Designers Comments on Vessel
The hull has been made as big in every dimension as is consistent with sparkling performance and excellent through-the-water speed. Her long waterline, generous beam and moderately high freeboard, are beneficial to voluminous live-aboard accommodations. The stability of this boat is absolutely awesome. A narrow entrance with sweetly vee-ed sections combine with a tall, generous sail plan and beautifully flair hull line, to make this design a powered windward sailor.
Seasoned cruisers and experienced live-aboards will recognize that there are no compromises in the Intrepid 40’s hull design, which make her any less then a powerful, steady, rugged sailing vessel with the potential for very fast passages to windward or off the wind. Her bright spacious and well-ventilated interior will appeal equally well, to those who wish to live aboard and cruise the world’s oceans. Both the ship’s engineer and homemaker will appreciate the many thoughtful details which make their individual tasks more pleasant.” C.W. Paine, N.A.
