Ted Hood designed a great sailing vessel when he designed the 38.8 A comfortable boat while at rest or underway. Wide side decks, and her powerful sheer provide good footing and a rock solid platform to sail. There are oversized teak toe rails and double life lines. ANDROMAXA has a dark blue hull with gold cove stripe and a white boot stripe.

Keel stepped Sparcraft aluminum mast with double spreaders with in main reefing. new in 1999/2000.
The mast was pulled and serviced by the Sparcraft Agent in 2007, a new inner forestay was added for a storm sail, all standing rigging was replaced and Dyneema halyards added. Spar Tight was used to seal the partners at the deck.

SLEEPS SIX IN ONE CABIN PLUS SALOON
Master cabin forward with very large V-berths with bespoke coil spring mattress to provide a really good and comfortable sleeping cabin. Direct access to the head and shower. Hanging locker, drawers, and lockers outboard above the berths. The cabin has good light and ventilation, and head-room.
Heads, with dedicated shower space, may also be entered from the companionway leading from the salon to the forward cabin. The head is a good sized space providing large vanity and storage space, wood framed oval mirror, and manual Jabsco marine toilet with Y-valve to overboard discharge or to holding tank.
Saloon with port and starboard settees that also convert into sleeping berths, both have lee cloths for whilst on passage and both extend to double width when in port. There is storage space below, behind, and outboard above the settees. Two additional hanging lockers and additional drawers for cloths and/or storage. Additional opening ports and an overhead hatch for great ventilation.

Superb sea kindly sea boat with great motion comfort factorthat is far higher than the plastic fantastics ( Bavaria, Beneteau Jeaneau etc ) - it sails really well, goes up wind in a blow, no slamming, steady on the helm, not by choice but have been out in 44kts true and boat still went to windward with no hint of rounding up etc. and takes big seas in her stride. She has a low draft of only, 4' 6" draft with centreboard up and 10' 3" with it down so you can enter the crowded anchorages in the Balearics and go to the shore and usually find a spot to anchor because all other boats need greater depth. She has a 44hp Universal diesel which is based on the Kubota so spares readily available. She has a very long keel with full skeg to keep her going straight as though on rails, however reversing is an acquired skill that 90% of the time goes really well, the time there is a crowd watching and waiting to be pleased she usually performs to an audience !
This is truly an rare opportunity to take ownership of a superb American yacht that has it's CE and VAT sorted, with the tightening up of the CE rules it will be harder still to get any of the really well built fine sailing boats they build over there into European waters because of the red tape of the EEC !
