The main deck features a large and comfortable main salon containing a bar with 4 armed chairs, a large couch, a round reversible (game/formal) table with 4 large arm chairs, an all regions 50” pop up TV,DVDs, SAT receivers, iPod dock, and accesses the central movie, music, and photo distribution system. The room has an excellent home theater listening experience. All surfaces are covered with exotic stones. Aft port there is a staircase leading down to a foyer around which four guest cabins are located. At the aft of the main salon there are double doors which lead to the aft deck.
The aft deck may be fully enclosed, open to the fresh air, or closed with AC. This area is furnished with a large teak round table with a lazy susan, 8 upholstered teak dining chairs. For cocktails, there are 4 arm chairs, a curved couch and tables. There is a 37” LCD connected to the SAT TV system to the central movie, music, and photo distribution system. There is a staircase going up to the boat-deck from the port side.
Foward of the main salon is the elegant formal dining salon containing a large inlaid table with 12 chairs, large fossils, storage cabinets for china, and silverware and a serving door into the pantry and galley. Music from multiple sources can be played in this room.
The galley is well equipped with commercial grade equipment and suitable for extensive catering. There are 2 doors to the side decks for crew entrance and the loading of supplies so as not to interfere with the owner’s access on the other side of the yacht. A staircase from the forward end of the galley leads down to the crew cabins and crew salon.
Forward on the main accommodation deck is the yacht's formal entrance with an inlaid stone floor. This door provides egress out to the side decks and side boarding ladder. Further forward is one of the Owner’s cabins. It is furnished with a king size bed, an Italian leather couch, an Italian leather recliner, a dresser with wood inlay, a large 42” Plasma TV with an all region DVD player, iPod dock, and access to the central movie, music, and photo distribution system. This room as an excellent home theater listening experience. This cabin has its own large, private shower and toilet. There is ample wardrobe space.
Aft of this cabin and off the passage-way on the starboard side is a doorway into the galley, an entrance to the dining salon, a staircase leading up to the wheelhouse, and a staircase down to the other owners cabin.
The lower accommodation deck contains the second owners’ cabin where the full beam of the ship is really felt. This room has a king size bed, two armchairs and a small table with inlay. At the end of the bed a all regions 42” LCD drops down from the ceiling. Connected to it is an all regions DVD player, SAT TV receiver, iPod dock, and it accesses the central movie, music, photo distribution system. This is another home theater listening system. There are two bathrooms, one with bath-tub with shower and the other with a shower. Both have toilets and wash basins. This cabin has four wardrobes and two built in wall dressers. All surfaces covered with exotic stone.
The 4 guest cabins are located aft of the main salon on the lower accommodation deck and are around a central foyer which contains linen storage cupboards. The 2 aft cabins have queen beds and the two forward cabins each have a queen bed and a single bed. These are large cabins. All have a private bathroom with tub, shower, toilet and wash basin. Each room is equipped with all regions LCD TV’s, DVD players, SAT receivers, iPod docks, and access the central movie, music, photo distribution system.
The boat deck is accessed from either the Sky Lounge or from the aft deck. On this deck there is large teak inlaid tabled with 10 cushioned seats for outside dining. Normal running configuration has one tender on this deck while the other tender and jet skis are stored on the forward deck. With the one tender removed this is an expansive deck space often used for; a sunning area (teak cushioned chairs used at the table convert to sunning chairs), an exercise area where guests use the treadmill or Elliptical Trainer, and at night guest enjoy outstanding panoramas while dinning.
The top deck which is accessed by a staircase from the upper port-side deck encompasses the complete upper deck. Forward on this deck is a Jacuzzi tub, large sun pads, seating areas, a full bar, a full back bar (both covered in exotic stone), a large BBQ, 4 chase lounge chairs, and aft there is an expansive sunning pad. Above the bar is a water proof 42” TV Plasma TV that accesses an all-region DVD player, iPod dock, and the central movie, music, and photo distribution system. This quality home theater listening experienced has prompted night guests to turn this area from a sunning area into a dance area.
The Sky Lounge is accessed from the boat deck or through the bridge area. It is equipped with two couches, a day head, a service bar, an all regions 60” TV, DVD’s, iPod dock, SAT receiver, and accesses the central movie, music, and photo distribution system. This is a quality home theater listening experience.
The wheel-house is carpeted and contains a helm chair, settee, chart table and navigation/radio equipment.
The captain’s cabin, which has a double bed, head and shower, is directly behind the wheel-house on the port side.
The ship’s office, equipped with computer and worldwide communication equipment is directly behind the wheel-house along the starboard side.
Passing through the ship’s office takes you to a passageway which has the wine cellar to the left and a large walk-in refrigerator/freezer to the right.
In 2009, an extensive refit was completed. Most of the interior areas including the Master Stateroom, Guest Staterooms, Main Salon, Dining Salon, Sky Lounge, Captains Stateroom, Crew Quarters, and all Heads were completely renovated. All carpeting, wall paper, ceiling treatments, light fixtures, marble surfaces, tile, window treatments, and fabrics were replaced. Low voltage, voice and data wire were added, wiring and plumbing upgrades and repairs were completed, and a complete new interior was installed. New features include custom Italian designed marquetry furniture, exotic stone work, fossil art and collectables, all new audio/video electronics, iPod docks throughout, and a centralized Movie/Music/Photo storage system. In addition, a wireless internet was installed resulting in a worldwide audio, video, voice, and data capabilities that benefits all guest and crew areas. Deck modifications and additions include adding a foredeck crane. This allows crew tender and toys to be stowed away from guest areas. For rough weather safe option, tender and toys can still be stored aft. The large tender can be stowed either across the beam aft providing more room for guests or forward/aft. The sun deck, new sun pad, and hot tub configuration were added. In addition, a bar, back bar, Sunbright TV, and large full beam un pad located aft were added. Ships electronics were upgraded to accommodate worldwide travel. New teak deck furniture, upholstery, and canvas were also installed throughout the entire vessel.
Golden Compass benefited from the installation of an ASEA model AC90V Shore Power Converter and a ASEA Seamless Transfer Switch. Modifications were made to the Lazzerette to accommode additional storage and the new ASEA Shore Air Power unit. In addition, all lower teak decks, swim step, swim deck stairs, and gangway teak were replaced. The entire hull was stripped and repainted with Awlgrip paint. Significant portions of the house and bow paint were repainted with Awlgrip paint. All exterior cushions and lounge pads were replaced with new Sunbrella fabric. New artwork from around the world was installed, and several interior stone surfaces were added. Other miscellaneous improvements include a new Ocean Breeze 40KW Load Bank, shafts, rebuilt stabilizers, crane, capsan, and bow thruster. In addition to the Air Mar weather station, a Furuno FI5001 Weather station was added. Also, a depth finder was upgraded, a new NavimeteoSat with bi-directional satellite transponder was installed. This tracks and broadcasts Golden Compass position by satellite and provides weather reports and weather warnings. An automated Sea Water Dosing Station was installed to eliminate sea growth in seawater piping. All main and generator maintenance required by hours including the 10,000 hour service on the Port main was completed.
