Heron was custom built by the Anchorage in Warren, Rhode Island in 1982. She is hull #221. She is in very good condition and has received proper care by her knowledgeable and meticulous owners. She was extensively rebuilt in 2003 and has been appointed with multiple options that make her a nice example of this classic yacht including her lovely stars and stripes blue topsides, complimentary upholstery through-out, Simpson Lawrence Sprint 400 windlass, newer electronics, new wiring and 2 new batteries.
She is powered by a Volvo 155 hp diesel - 280 stern drive that was rebuilt in 2003. This configuration delivers exceptional maneuverability and is quieter and roomier than the standard mid-engine boat since the engine is in the stern. Recently, the universal joint and turbo charger have been rebuilt and a new bellows and two new hydraulic lines on the drives were installed in the Fall of 2013. With her 2' 6" draft, she can venture into the shallowest of waters giving you endless options of areas to explore and enjoy. She offers great performance with a comfortable 8 knot cruise at 2200 rpms and a top speed of 15 knots at 3200 rpms. She burns a mere 1.5 to 2 gallons per hour at her cruise speed and is extremely efficient.
She has been used as a race committee boat in South Florida, Block Island and Narragansett Bay and for the past three years she has provided the owner and his wife with weeks of enjoyable cruising on Lake Ontario, Georgian Bay and upstate New York.
Spring maintenance complete, she is in the water and ready to go for the season. Please click on FULL SPECS for detailed information and additional photographs.
We have a slip available in Westerly, RI on the Pawcatuck River for an owner wishing to keep her in this area. Please note that there is no sales tax if purchased and kept in the state of Rhode Island.

Details of 2003 Rebuild
Heron underwent an extensive rebuild in 2003 and the details are as follows:
Hull: The cabin was rebuilt by removing the fixed aft bulkhead and the two fixed glass windows on either side. These were replaced with vinyl windowed drop curtains that can be rolled up. The forward pilot house windows were replaced with new heavy duty opening marine windows and the sliding port and starboard windows were replaced with new 1/4" safety glass. Sun covers were made for these four windows. The Lexan in the two Bomar hatches (one over the helm station) was replaced and a Nicro 3000 solar vented added to the forward hatch. The entire cabin was then Awlgripped inside and out (Alpine White) and the topsides painted (Stars and Stripes Blue).
Engine: Heron is powered with a Volvo 155HP diesel with sterndrive. In 2003, the engine and drive were removed from the boat and rebuilt. Invoices covering this work are available. A single lever Morse engine control and Teleflex Sea Star hydraulic steering with an Edson wheel with knob were installed. A fiberglass drip pan was fabricated and installed and the engine box was recovered with Sound Down. A Mercury Quick Silver cathode system was installed for galvanic protection and a fresh water flush kit was added to the engine for use dock side or off fresh water wash down system if the boat is on a mooring. Racor 75/500 MAXM dual fuel filters were installed and the engine box cooling was improved with the addition of two Par flex mount bilge blowers. Since the rebuild, there have been 1,455 hours on the engine. The engine runs very well and has been trouble free.

NEW in 2009
In 2009, Heron returned to the factory for a bottom job and to have the chine modified. This is an improvement that the Anchorage is making on the new boats. It turns the aft six feet of the original soft chine into a hard chine then tapers into the original bottom for improved roll resistance. It has proven to be an excellent addition to the boat.
12 Volt system with two West Marine "Sea Volt" group 27 batteries (new June 2015) which can be combined or separated by a four position battery switch mounted next to the companionway step. Above this switch is the DC electrical panel with individiual breakers for each circuit and below the panel are the three manual/automatic switches for the three Rule bilge pumps. These pumps and foat switches are mounted in three water tight compartments (forward cabin, mid-ship area aft of the fuel tank and in the engine compartment). The engine alternator supplies power to the batteries and the system is grounded throughout the vessel. There are cabin lights at the berths, in the galley, in the head and in the pilot house. There are three AC outlets in the cabin which could be replaced with GFCI duplex outlets and an AC panel and shore power connector added if AC power was desired.
