Challenge Twelve was built for the Perth, Western Australia based Challenge Syndicate by Steve Ward in 1982. She proved to be an excellent trial horse for Alan Bond's victorious Australia II particularly in light air. Under her current ownership she was campaigned in Europe during 2003 then completely dismantled for restoration and updating in 2004. Continual upgrading took place each winter in preparation for summer competition in the Mediterranean and ultimately the USA east coast. Carbon rudder and trim tab, latest in Lewmar carbon primary winch package and deck hardware. A new mast and full suit of North Sails were built in 2007 and 2009 mainsail has been raised twice. There is no "punch list". Challenge Twelve is ready for commissioning to compete this season which would be a good tune up summer in anticipation of the 2012 World Championship Regatta in Cowes and subsequent UK Tour of the Twelves.
