If you have not heard about the Canadian Sailcraft Yachts, you are in for a pleasant surprise. The CS 36 Traditional even by todays standards is a well balanced solid boat that is a Raymond Wall (of Camper Nicholson fame) design. Quoting from goodoldboats.com "the boat sails like it is on rails and comes about like a dinghy, quick and agile.
In many ways the boat feels larger than 36' with a spacious cockpit, two spreader rig, and a very open spacious cabin below.
Current Pictures have just been added.

This Old Boat Write up on the CS 36
There is a wonderful write up on the Canadian Sailcraft 36 Traditional on Sailboat Owner's blog written by Main Sail on September 7, 2011, It gives a very thorough description of the CS 36. He starts the discussion with "The CS 36's are/were very, very well built boats. They are comparable to Sabre, Tartan, Cape Dory, Bristol etc. in terms of build quality and they were ahead of their time in terms of features and design characteristics." He continues to discuss the design and construction and other features or comment about the boat.
I believe anyone familiar with the boats will tell you that the CS36 is a solid reliable boat that sails well and if well maintained can give you many years of cruising comfort.
Accommodations on Deck
"Amazing Gracie" is all set with a new bimini and dodger. The main, roller furling genoa, and mainsail cover are in great condition and good for several years of cruising. In the stern is a solid stern pulpit with a drop down swim ladder, outboard motor bracket and framing for the bimini. An adjustable hydraulic back stay, Compass at the helm station, and cockpit table. The cockpit locker on the port side is extra large with access to the back of the engine and transmission. The starboard cockpit locker is also accessible from below which is a really nice design feature that most boats even today do not utilize.
There are multiple gauges facing the helmsman on the cabin side facing the cockpit. There are two 3 speed #44 Lewmar winches for trimming the sails, two self tailing winches multiple cleats, and two more winches on the port side cabin top and three on the starboard side cabin top for the halyards, mainsheet, and reef lines.
The traveler is just forward of the companionway slide. The boom has a boom vang strut and there is a winch mounted on the mast for additional leverage when reefing or adjusting the sails at the mast. (Most halyards and line lead aft to the cabin top winches).
There is a long spinnaker pole mounted on the starboard deck. Just forward of the mast is a short pulpit for attaching halyards or bracing at the mast. The forward hatch is large enough for dropping a large sailbag or climbing in and out. The anchor windlass handles both chain and rode and there is a solar ventilator to circulate fresh air below.
Going down the companionway ladder the nav station is on Starboard with the galley on port. The galley is the traditional "U" shape with the large refrigerator aft, the 3 burner propane stove port, and storage locker and single sink coming back out into the cabin. There is a nice size couch on the port side with reading lamp, and shelves behind with lots of storage areas. The lighting and ventilation are enhanced by the good size mid-cabin hatch. There is a drop down table mounted on the bulkhead which folds out to make a large dining table or you can drop a side down and still have a nice size place to serve hors d'oeuvres. The starboard side couch back rotates up and the seat bottom slides out to become a very large double bed.
Moving forward there is a hanging locker on the port side and the head on starboard. The head has a pull out shower head for the sink manual head, mirror, storage locker and counter space.
The forward vee berth has an insert to make it extra large. The stereo is located overhead with shelving and cabinets for storage.
The engine box is under the companionway and on the starboard side is a large single berth with a locker inboard that has access to the cockpit through the cockpit locker.
Sails & Canvas
The owner has installed a new Dodger and Bimini for the boat. The main sail has some years on it but has been serviced regularly and still has several more years of life. The roller furling Genoa is newer and will be good for several more years life.
