Already storied for her adventures in the book "North Atlantic Odyssey, Sailing to the Arctic Circle", Free Spirit has been completely modernized by an insatiably avid sailor determined to constantly refine her performance. She has been refitted with new engine, carbon fiber mast and boom, redesigned high-tech keel, and taffeta protected, carbon fiber/Vectran sails. These high tech improvements contributed to a highly successful racing career:

* Won the Mass. Bay Sailing Association Season championship with wins in 8 of 16 major regattas.
* Overall Class B racing class winner in the 1997 Corinthian 200.
* Won Chapman Bowl - 1997

Free Spirit is surprisingly close-winded and responsive (in both light and heavy air) yet has the stability and feel of a heavy-displacement offshore yacht. She is fun to sail and easy to manage for short-handed cruising with electric, high-speed winches, dual auto pilots and full navigation gear.

Free Spirit is a spirited cruiser, elegant in luxury, with the pedigree of a serious cruiser-racer. She is a pampered, one-owner gem that has consistently provided creature comforts (e.g. Air Conditioning, etc), top-notch performance, with surprising pointing ability. She is well-balanced, easy to steer with a single hand. She has crossed the Atlantic twice, been to Bermuda 5 times, and has relaxed in the Caribbean two seasons.
