'Juniper' was designed, built and sailed for 25 years, by the designer Chris White and his wife, before she was sold to the renowned Dutch sailor, Henk de Velde. Henk completed a mostly solo, high latitude circumnavigation from 2007 to 2011, making it his 6th circumnavigation.
'Juniper' is long in order to provide comfortable ocean sailing, wide for stability in heavy conditions, and simple in construction, accommodation and systems in order to keep costs low.
She’s an excellent performer, and has a very comfortable motion in all conditions. Some experienced sailors who have sailed passages in her claim 'Juniper' to be the most comfortable boat they have ever been aboard. She was designed for long term cruising for a couple or small family. Fast enough to win races, 'Juniper' won the original 110 mile New England Solo/Twin Race and placed well in other events.
Her current owner has carried out many updates during 2016. She has just crossed the Atlantic with the ARC fleet (Dec 2016) and recorded daily runs of over 240nm. She is in cruise-ready condition and represents very good value for money for someone seeking a fast, stable, blue-water cruiser.
She is EU duty paid.

Three layers of eastern white cedar bonded with epoxy resin. Outer surfaces sheathed in glass reinforcement also bonded with epoxy resin.
The topsides are fair and have been finished in light blue two part paint that has been applied by roller to a reasonable standard.
2016 - The antifouling was sanded right back to obtain a very smooth finish. Two coats of grey hard racing and one coat of ablative antifouling were applied.
Fixed timber keel giving a draft of 4 feet 6 inches.
Timber rudder sheathed in glass reinforcement and bonded with epoxy resin. The rudder is in good condition. Some minor slack in the lower bearing.
In the main hull there is a double berth towards the bow. Further aft there is a dining table with settee berths to port and starboard. Aft of the dining area there is a large galley to starboard and a refrigerator and washroom with toilet to port. Towards the stern is the navigation area and a double berth. Steps lead up to the aft cockpit and helm position. Beneath the floor of the navigation area is the diesel engine.
Internal hull surfaces
The internal surfaces of the main hull are good. The lacquer in the saloon and forward cabin would benefit from refurbishment.
2016 - The lacquer in the navigation area and galley was recoated.
The starboard hull was punctured above the waterline in 2015 and correctly repaired with three layers of laminated timber.
The port hull has been punctured above the waterline at some time and repaired with polyester fillers. This is a cosmetic defect.

The galley area and all the associated equipment is clean and in good condition.
Juniper´s interior joinery is finished in lacquer and white paint. The joinery is all in good condition and functioning correctly.
Furnishings & linings
2016 - The mattresses and saloon cushions were replaced with fire resistant foam and new blue fabric. The head linings are white painted.
Windows, ports & hatches
Opening hatches are provided over the living spaces.
The companionway is closed by a sliding hatch.
Fixed and opening windows are set into the hull.
Masts & spars
Carbon fibre rotating wing mainmast by King Spars. White painted in very good condition.
Timber rotating wing mizzenmast. White painted in very good condition.
Two aluminium booms.
2016 - Mainmast standing rigging replaced in 1 x 19 stainless steel wire.
2016 - Profurl jib furling stripped and all extrusion joints replaced.
2009 - Mizzenmast standing rigging replaced in 1 x 19 stainless steel wire.
Running rigging & winches
2016 - All winches serviced and spinnaker winches installed in the cockpit.
2016 - Halyards replaced in dyneema
2016 - All polyester running rigging washed and checked for chafe.
Mainsail is fully battened in dacron with three slab reefs. Very good condition.
Mizzen is fully battened in laminate with two reefs. Well used but good shape.
Jib is laminated and in good condition
Spinnaker 1 is 2oz nylon. Requires a patch on the luff and one on the foot.
Spinnaker 2 in 1.5oz nylon in very good condition.
2016 - Decks painted in white non slip paint.
Two aluminium alloy cleats on the main foredeck.
Three aluminium alloy cleats on each float.
One aluminium alloy cleat on the stern of the main hull.
Blue polyester mainsail cover in good condition.
Blue polyester mizzen cover in good condition.
Blue polyester companionway cover in good condition.
Three cylinder 27hp Kubota diesel converted for marine use by Beta Marine UK. Excellent little engine with 3500 hours. Starts well with no smoke and runs perfectly. Burns 1 litre per hour. Cruising speed 5 knots in calm conditions.
2016 - Fully serviced.
Single lever morse controls are fitted in the cockpit. The lever and control box are visually in good condition. The lever is moving freely.
A mechanical Hurth gearbox is bolted to the engine. The shaft runs through a ceramic seal and is supported by a cutlass bearing in a bronze P bracket.
A two bladed bronze folding propeller is attached to the end of the shaft.
Diesel storage & supply
Diesel fuel is stored in an epoxy sheathed tank located aft of the engine. Capacity approximately 45 gallons.
2016 - Flexible fuel lines replaced and Racor water separator filter serviced. Engine mounted fuel filter replaced.
Stainless steel wheel drives chains and cables that drive and Edson bronze quadrant.
2016 - Steering cables replaced with spares included in the ships inventory.
A Whale MK IV is situated forward in the main hull.
