This beautiful Ta Chiao CT-54 has classic lines that are as pleasant on the eyes as they are efficient at sea! "Walela" was built for comfort and safety, whether tied up to the dock or crossing the ocean on her next world cruise. As a liveaboard she is second to none with four staterooms and twin heads, one has a shower stall and one has a sit-down bath tub and shower! The storage and tankage on this beauty is enough to go anywhere you desire, and her big Lehman 120 HP engine and 10.5 KW generator will ensure you arrive in cool, comfortable style.
Walela had an extensive refit in 2006: Her teak decks were removed completely, and fiberglass was inserted into the decks in place of the original sheet foam, with the resulting decks as sturdy and solid as any CT anywhere!
The Ford Lehman diesel was completely rebuilt at the factory and has less than 1500 hours since the rebuild. The fuel system was replaced, and extra fuel filters were installed, as well as a fuel polishing system.
The standing rigging was completely replaced by in 2006 with over-sized shrouds and stays, and the mast steps were replaced.
Generator was replaced with a Kohler 10.5 KW, which uses a Yanmar diesel, and has less than 500 hours on it.
All fuel, water and holding tanks were replaced during the refit. An extra 50 gallon water tank was installed at that time, and an oversized 80 gallon holding tank was installed.
The cabin sole was completely replaced and shows like new!
In 2006 all blisters were removed and drained, and a barrier coat was applied. Since then regular bottom jobs have shown no new blisters.
The center cockpit is huge and has plenty of seating for the crew. The cockpit has a fiberglass hard bimini that gives great protection with plenty of headroom and you can walk on it if you need to! The built-in dodger has 3 large isenglass panels that can be removed for better ventilation. The davits are also oversized and will accommodate any RIB or dinghy you care to use!
The interior and exterior wood services are in need of fresh oil or Cetol, but structurally this is as sound a CT 54 as you will find anywhere!
