Design & Construction
Barry Carroll supervised all aspects of "Nemesis" (formerly ELAN) Lay-up. As in many C&C's, the hull and deck were balsa cored to provide the exceptional strength, insulating properties and weight reduction found in all C&C yachts. Nemesis' was unique and Mr. Carroll specified many non-standard features that improved the quality and strength of her compared to standard construction. A selection of non-standard features are as follows:
Peterson type keep, same as a C&C 34, is 150 lbs. heavier and 8" deeper than the keel on a standard C&C 33.
The rudder is custom elliptical design similar to that of the Frers 33.
The mast is aluminum with double spreaders.
Nemisis was laid-up with a beautiful, varnished teak interior, a teak and holly sole and a solid teak drop-leaf dining table. The vessel sleeps 6 adults in a large V berth (6'2"), two 6'3" settees and a double quarter berth (6'5')
Indirect lighting in the salon, foot lights near the cabin sole and the engine and cockpit compartments are also lighted.
Storage is exceptional. The main salon has 5" cushions covered in dark blue velour. Enclosed storage outboard. There are also two open storage areas above the settees and six additional storage areas behind the settee back cushions.
The galley features smoked Plexiglass sliders, 2 large drawers and 2 storage areas behind hinged doors. The ice box is large and very well insulted. There are double stainless steel sinks with pressure water and generous counter top areas.
The head has a vanity sink with pressure water. There is a "Y" valve for overboard discharge and across from the head is a large hanging locker and 3 open storage shelves.
