The Westerly Griffon was built to replace the hugely successful Centaur and is often described as the benchmark for cruising yachts of their size. Offering an excellent combination of performance (much improved from the Centaur), handling and accommodation it is easy to see why! Snow Queen is one of the best we have seen presented in superb condition for her age with many upgrades including recent sails, lifeline gates, GPS chart plotter and DSC VHF radio.

The Westerly Griffon offers up to 6 berths in 2 cabins with approx. 6' max. headroom. Forecabin with V berth, infill to form a double, beneath berth storage and opening Lewmar hatch (new 2012) to foredeck. Separate heads compartment to port with a Jabsco marine toilet and a sliding sink unit updated with a stainless steel basin and tap. Hanging locker opposite to starboard with trotter box. Saloon consisting of a large table (can seat 6) which stows neatly against the forward bulkhead when not in use and settee berths to port (converts to a double) and starboard. Further stowage is provided beneath and behind the seating. Galley aft to starboard equipped with a Flavel Vanessa 2-burner gas stove with grill, galley sink, top loading fridge and storage. Pressurised cold water supplied to both heads with additional back up electric pump for heads basin. Quarter berth aft to port with instrument area above. Teak joinery throughout with light blue chenille upholstery (new including foam 2010) in very good condition complimented by teak and holly soleboards, striped curtains and scatter cushions. Her headlinings were updated in 2012 and are in good condition.

Masthead Bermudan sloop rig. Deck stepped silver anodised aluminium mast and boom. Stainless steel standing rigging (professionally surveyed and updated where required in 2014). Terylene running rigging all led aft to cockpit. Slab reefing mainsail with stackpack. Headsail furling system. 2 x Lewmar 30 2-speed sheet winches. 2 x Lewmar 10 halyard winches.

Located under companionway, Volvo Penta MD7A 13hp 2-cylinder diesel engine. Seawater cooled. Morse type single lever controls with electric start. Upgraded 40L plastic fuel tank Shaft drive with rope cutter to fixed Volvo Penta 2-bladed propeller.
The engine appears to be in excellent condition, runs quietly, has proven very reliable and been serviced annually during current ownership.
2 x Heavy duty 12v batteries charged via engine alternator. Professionally installed shorepower system with RCD breaker, ring mains and 60amp battery charger. Re-wired with new switch panel and saloon lighting in 2014.

Westerly Griffon built by Westerly Yachts in 1980 to an Ed Dubois design. White GRP hull with teak toe rail and rubbing strake. White GRP decks with light blue non-slip painted surfaces (painted July 2016). Cast iron twin bilge keels. Tiller steering to transom hung rudder. Self draining cockpit.
Snow Queen is in unusually good condition for a yacht of her age, her gelcoat shines and she is a credit to her loving owner. Only for sale after 5yrs of ownership due to a need for more space below decks she is likely to be the best Griffon available.
