I have had Micaro since 1998, only her third owner. During my ownership, she has been extensively refitted, as may be seen from the inventory, and carefully maintained. Winters have always been ashore, heated and dehumidified. She is being sold in ready to go condition.
Since 1999 I have cruised Micaro, mainly singlehanded, in the Channel, Scillies, Southern Ireland, Brittany and Atlantic France down to Rochefort where she wintered in 2002/3. In 2003 she was trucked to Gruissan on the Med. and cruised South of France, Corsica, Sardinia, all of Western Italy, Sicily and Malta, from a base on the Tiber river near Rome from 2003 to 2008. She was re-engined (and gearbox) in 2006. Stern gear, engine controls, main batteries, battery charger and regulator and anchor winch were all renewed at the same time. All these have effectively only done three seasons, hence the low hours.
She was laid up ashore in Rome 2009-2011 as business and family commitments precluded her use. In late 2011 she was sailed up to Antibes and trucked straight to Falmouth Marina, where she has been very lightly used for local daysailing.
Micaro inspires great confidence and is a tremendous seaboat with surprising performance. She loves a blow and has an easy and comfortable motion. The furling gennaker gives her good light-air ability as well. She worked really well as a liveaboard for 6 months of the year in the Med, being well-ventilated below and with a spacious and comfortable cockpit.
I am selling as I have now bought a larger boat.
