Certainly one of the best cared-for Swan 57's in existance. She has been constantly upgraded and maintained. Her Flag Blue hull was expertly Awlgripped in 2010, teak decks fully refurbished in 2012 and a long list of work and new gear added.

MERLIN has six berths in three private staterooms. with a crew cabin forward and additional berths in the main salon. The interior is primarily original, in astoundingly good condition. All upholstery was renewed in 2010. The teak bulkheads and teak and holly cabin soles are varnished to perfection. All trim areas are accented in high gloss varnish. Galley and entertainment systems have been consistently upgraded.
The main salon has a large U-shaped dinette to starboard surrounding a large drop-leaf table with bookshelves outboard. To port is a large settee with pilot berth outboard. Forward of the settee and berth is an end table and locker that houses the TV/VCR and entertainment equipment.
The U-shaped galley is aft of the salon to port, with excellent natural light and ventilation from the adjacent companionway, two deep stainless steel sinks, large Sea Frost refrigeration and freezer, stainless steel Broadwater 4-burner stove with oven, microwave oven, custom mug and spice racks and an abundance of counter and cabinet space.
The NAVIGATION STATION is to starboard of the companionway, with a large sit-down navigation desk, comfortable seating, full performance and navigation instrumentation, comprehensive communications equipment and AC/DC electrical panels. Immediately aft of the navigation station is a locker for the printer and access to other electrical functions.
The owner's stateroom is aft of the navigation station, with a large hanging locker and settee outboard at the entrance, single berth to starboard and double to port, with a second settee between. The stateroom has a private companionway to the cockpit, stowage in drawers, lockers and cabinets. The ensuite head has a stainless steel basin, vanity top, locker stowage and a shower.
Forward of the salon to port is a walk-thru guest cabin with a large single berth. There is stowage below, a hanging locker, bureau, and an opening hatch to the mid-deck area. Forward of this stateroom is a stowage area with lockers outboard.
Across to starboard is a second guest cabin with upper and lower berths, locker, drawer and hanging locker stowage and an opening hatch. This cabin adjoins the second head with stainless steel sink and vanity. and private access. . There is a second entry from the storage area, so the head can be utilized also as a day head.
Forward is a crew cabin with V-berths, locker stowage and private access via an opening hatch to the foredeck. Both owner's and forward heads have Sealand Vacuflush toilets.
S&S NAUTOR's SWAN 57
The Sparkman and Stephens designed Swan 57 has a well earned reputation as an extremely able, high performance offshore cruising yacht. MERLIN is unquestionably the best of 49 sister ships. She has enjoyed exceptional ownership and maintenance, with her inventory continually upgraded. She is very well set up for cruising, with three private staterooms, crew's quarters and all amenities. Her sail plan is easily managed with a small crew when cruising and she is well equipped for racing as well.
DECK & HULL
MERLIN's topsides were flawlessly Awlgripped Flag Blue Awlgrip in 2012. The cove stripe is gold Awlgrip, name and hail are gold vinyl, double boot top is white Awlgrip. A custom varnished teak toe rail was added in 2001 with stainless tracks for outboard leads and custom stainless roller chocks. A new stainless bow pulpit, stern rail and stanchions were fitted at the same time. As part of the same refit, five (5) Goiot hatches were replaced as well. The teak overlay decks are in excellent condition, fully reconditioned in 2012, as is the white Awlgrip cabin and cockpits.
SAILS & RIGGING
MERLIN is ketch rigged with carbon fiber masts, booms and spinnaker pole by Offshore Spars in 2005, replacing the original alloy spars. All standing rod rigging and new running rigging were added at the same time.. Also, new Lewmar halyard winches were replaced in 2001. The primary winches are custom Lewmar #90 ST's with pedestal grinders. The secondary winches are Lewmar #65 ST electric winches installed in 2006, with customized installation to allow for the correct turning block leads for primary use with the jib sheets. A new Harken traveler system was installed in 2001.
