Kumatage, which means the path of light upon the sea cast by a celestial body, was built by the Jarvis Newman Boatyard of Southwest Harbor, Maine with a handlaid fiberglass hull and deck assembly. She was then completed by Carl Chase of Brooksville, Maine, who finished several Friendship Sloops. She has a clean layout below with mahogany trim and sleeps 4. Her current owner sails her out of Falmouth, Maine, keeping up with her maintenance. Kumatage offers a boat enthusiast some of the modern conveniences along with the beautiful classic lines of Friendship Sloops and is ready to sail in 2018!

Solid hand-laid fiberglass hull plus reinforcing built by the Jarvis Newman Yard in Southwest Harbor, Maine. Her deck assembly is fiberglass with a sandwiched balsa core for stiffness and less weight. She was handsomely completed by the Carl Chase yard in Brooksville, Maine. Her trim inside is mahogany and out is teak. She has 4400 lbs of inside ballast, a dark green original gel coat hull, white boot stripe, with a red bottom..
4-91 Westerbeke diesel, 30 HP. Fresh water cooled. Hours are approx. 800. Rebuilt in 2007. 2:1 reduction gear. 2-blade bronze propeller on a 1" bronze shaft. Edson worm steering.

Mainsail and Staysail- 2001 North Sails with 2005 Sail Covers. Extra 1980 Hood Main in good shape.

Double-headed gaff rig with varnished hollow Sitka Spruce Mast. Varnished Boom, Gaff, Staysail Boom and Bowsprit.
Dacron running rigging, sheets, halyards; SS standing rigging.
Sleeps 4 below. Aft of rope locker are two vee berths forward with filler and lockers below. Next aft to starboard is the head with manual toilet & Jabsco pump, and double louvered doors (1 door is not installed), followed by a settee with lockers below and shelves outboard. Next aft stb is a quarterberth in aft of cabin. Galley is forward port with ice box, brass sink with 2 bronze hand pumps (fresh and salt water), gimballed Origo 2-burner alcohol stove, and counter and storage space. Aft of galley is settee followed by a quarter berth. The cabin is painted white with mahogany trim, and teak sole with 6'4" headroom. With reading lights above each berth, six opening bronze ports and a cabintop opening hatch and companionway--both with screens, it is a well-lit and ventilated cabin.
