BIG PRICE REDUCTION! MAKE AN OFFER! This is a really great boat for extensive blue water cruising. COME SEE!

COMMISSIONED AND READY TO TAKE YOU ANYWHERE!  All Reasonable offers / trades will be considered. Incredible world cruiser designed and custom built by Andy Blan.

When a family wants a larger boat fitted out for year round living and sailing, this is it.  “Arcadia” was begun based on a Roberts 53 hull mold.  She was custom designed and built exceeding Lloyds rules and Herreshoff scantlings (scantlings are “a set of standard dimensions for parts of a structure”).   Condensation is nonexistent due to her fiberglass double Baltek core hull and wooden interior.  Salvaged Cuban mahogany, Bermuda cedar and white oak are some of the interior woods used.  Dedicated lockers, wood or coal, feed the railroad caboose stove and bulkhead mounted propane heaters continue the comfort.  Hot water is always available from an on demand unit and propane is carried in three thirty pound aluminum tanks.

Begun in 1980, her maiden voyage was in 1990.  The mast is in a tabernacle and can be lowered for inland travel.  This is accomplished single handed with no outside assistance.  For cruising flexibility, a mast height of 64’ and a draft of 6’ has allowed her to use the intracoastal waterway.  She has been to the Bahamas twice and the Florida Keys.  Bermuda was her first passage and besides a blown out sail on a second trip, nothing has failed and her extensive list of spare parts remains on board.

“Arcadia” has no thru hulls below the water line and a sea chest below the wheel feeds all the intakes.  The strainers are located here and the propeller is also accessed thru the sea chest.  This has been a valuable innovation as fouling of the propeller has been cleared from the cockpit at sea.  This is an extremely strong and stiff sailboat.  It has spent winters in the ice, on the hook,  and sailing the North Atlantic in all seasons.

Owners Statement: The boat has done most of her trips single handed and it’s only a matter of age and health that wish me to pass her on to a new solo sailor or family.  I’ll be flexible with the price and trades are possible.
