The EMERALD SEA was built by Camcraft in Louisiana in 1980 as a crewboat. It is comfortable and well maintainded, with a large open top deck ideal for viewing wildlife and scenery. It was converted for passenger sightseeing and food service in the early '90's. It has operated in Whittier Alaska for the last 12 years doing glacier excursions for Major Marine Tours. It is currently in Seward, Alaska.
The vessel is 98ft. long, 24 ft. wide. The main cabin was refurbished in 1992 and the galley was renovated in 2003, and windows were replaced with double pane in 2005. There is a well equipped galley midships below the main deck, served by stairs and a dumb waiter. There is a full food service arrangement on the main deck that is used to serve a buffet meal on tours. There is a full bar forward under the wheelhouse where the four toilets are also located.
EMERALD SEA is equipped with three 12v71 GM Detroit diesel engines all in good operating condition. They each drive a Twin Disk NG514 gear and a 32" stainless prop. All in good condition. The vessel makes 14 knots cruising speed at 1500 RPM. At this speed it burns about 40 gallons of diesel per hour. It is equipped with a 55kw Norther Lights generator, and a 40kw Detroit 3-71 generator, both in good condition.
