"Qwest" is a fine example of a1979 Morgan Custom 461 Sloop, a center-cockpit sloop designed by Charlie Morgan and constructed for the charter market in the Caribbean. She is presently campaigned as a successful, crewed charter vessel, primarily operating in the Virgin Islands. Her present owners (both licensed captains) acquired the vessel approximately twelve years ago and serve as crew catering to one couple (2 person) dive oriented charters. The most recent survey completed in 2010 states: "The vessel is adequately equipped and well appointed for this intended use."
This spacious Morgan 46 Sloop has a full suite of navigation electronics including GPS, radar, autopilot, SSB, and VHF, good sail inventory, updated rigging, 2 large staterooms with ensuite heads including a tub/shower in the Master, and a huge U-shaped galley and dinette/salon. The cockpit is deep and provides excellent protection from bad weather and seats a large crowd with ample deck space for sunbathing and lounging.
If you would like to purchase a well-maintained charter yacht with an excellent reputation earned in the Virgin Islands, "Qwest" is ready to begin the next season; complete with two well-established websites, a mooring in Red Hook, 2009 RIB dinghy and 30 HP Yamaha outboard motor, kayak, dive compressor and dive equipment. This is a charter business that is respected by experienced charter brokers. Or, if you are looking for a cruising yacht that is capable of taking you around the world, take a closer look at "Qwest." UPDATE OF CONDITION: This vessel recently had some minor cosmetic damage when it broke loose from its mooring and tangled with another boat. The bow pulpit and anchor roller, several stanchions, a few minor scratches to the hull, a chafed lower shroud, and the teak cap rail were damaged, but otherwise no damage to the rigging, deck, or interior. A competent marine repair company in St. Thomas that has inspected the damage estimates it can be fully repaired for approximately $15,000 and a maximum of $20,000; and less if you are able to do some of the work yourself. The Asking price was reduced nearly $30,000 after the damage occurred because the Sellers do not have time to oversee the repairs.
Prior to the accident and damage, this vessel was appraised by a professional marine surveyor for $115,000 in a full survey report that is required annually to maintain the 6 Passenger U.S. Coast Guard Certificate for Charter and insured value.
High-resolution photos of the damage, a 2010 Survey/Appraisal Report, and a detailed description of each damaged area in a report from the marine surveyor who inspected this vessel and appraised the damage, are available to serious buyers. | ||
