The Mainship 34 Trawler is one of the most popular small cruisers ever built. She was constructed on a solid fiberglass, semi-displacement hull with a deep forefoot, slightly rounded bilges, and a full-length keel. The great appeal of the 34, aside from an affordable price, is her superb fuel economy. With the single Perkins 165 hp diesel engine, the Mainship will cruise quite comfortably at 10-11 knots burning only 6 gph. At a more relaxed speed of 7 knots the fuel consumption rate drops to a remarkable 2 gph.
The practical single stateroom floorplan is well suited for the cruising couple. In the interior, the forward cabin has a large v-berth and filler cushion, two hanging lockers and shelves outboard. More storage is built in below the berth with shelves and large compartments. The galley is to port and includes all the necessary food-prep necessities with plenty of storage. There is an electric two-burner cooktop, S/S sink with pressure H/C water, and Norcold fridge/freezer. The enclosed head compartment is to starboard and features a separate stall shower, sink and vanity.
The main salon is up three steps. Here you'll find an open and airy layout with a custom drop-leaf table to starboard and comfortable chairs for relaxing. The entire starboard side of the main saloon has built in storage lockers. A lower helm is standard in the roomy salon. The entire starboard side of the main saloon has built in storage lockers. On the port side is a sofa that folds into a double bed.
On the flybridge, there is plenty of seating with a helm seat, side bench and an L-shaped lounge seat. A bridge extension shades the cockpit. There is a full Sunbrella enclosure for both the flybridge helm and the aft cockpit. Any couple that is looking for a fuel-efficient, go-anywhere, turnkey cruiser will find this vessel hard to resist.
