Volvo D1-20 inboard diesel engine with indirect cooling system fitted in 2009. 40 litre fuel tank. 2 batteries. Saildrive 130S to 2 bladed propeller both new in 2009. Maximum speed is around 6 knots. Auto fire extinguisher in engine compartment and manual fire extinguisher in cabin.

Slab reefing mainsail by Dolphin 1996 with mainsail stackpack system (Lonton & Gray 2015). Genoa roller reefing system (Rotostay fitted in 2006) with No 1 Genoa by Dolphin 1996, a North Sails 80% blade jib and a 120% woven Dacron Genoa in good condition, spare mainsail and jib. Lazyjacks fitted. Aluminium mast and spars and stainless steel rigging. (Cap shrouds replaced in 2001, backstay replaced 2018, rigging checked 2018 Foxs Boatyard).

I've owned this yacht for approximately 10 years and sailed regularly along the east coast, usually singlehanded and she has crossed the channel several times to Calais and Dunkirk. The Etap 28 has a good reputation as a reliable sea going yacht and is fast and fun to sail. I have been out in some rather unpleasant weather and the boat has always handled admirably (better than me). The powerful new Volvo engine is an absolute blessing and not to be underestimated or overlooked if you are going out to sea.
In 2009 I had the new Volvo D1-20 engine and 130s saildrive professionally fitted and it has been regularly serviced since. Currently the engine has approx 750hrs hours of usage (there are calorifier connections for hot water).
I have the echo Bronze Trio echopilot for depth, speed thru water and even displays COG etc from the GPS black box central hub. I have kept an old seafarer echsounder below as back up (one of my obsessions) and also because the alarm is easy to use compared to modern digital systems. The old Garmin GPS 128 is basic but extremely reliable and has a repeater on deck which is invaluable in rough weather if you don't want to go below. I usually have a laptop below plugged into the GPS which acts as a chartplotter if you need it. The NASA Clipper Wind speed has been temperamental over the years, but NASA have just returned it and it needs to be reinstalled at the top of the mast. I have placed the DSC SX 35 Radio in the perfect position for singlehanded sailing. The Simrad TP 10 tiller pilot is something I rely on heavily and is adequate.
All in all I have taken time to set this boat to be used with minimal effort and convenience for the single handed sailor. Too many people buy bigger yachts that are slow and heavy and cannot leave harbour without assistance and rarely get used. I have been aboard many yachts that are perhaps "set up" well for use in harbour.
The diesel tank was overhauled in 2000, but the top needs removing again and wire brushing clean and is probably the next job to be tackled.
I have a gimbled 2 burner plastismo neptune cooker bought in the year 2000, 2 x batterys only 18 months old. I have an automatic engine fire extinguisher and another in the saloon. The anchor and chain have always held and are in good condition.
The Mainsail is fine, but probably needs replacing soon if you are after optimal performance. I have a good Blade Jib and also I purchased a secondhand genoa with a loam luff that and was cut to about 14ft foot and it is very powerful and fits well. I still have the previous jib from 1998, but that has a 17ft foot and is a bit stretched IMO. I still have the original sails, but they seem to have worn stitching and I have kept them as a template.
I have just bought a cruising chute with 'snuffer sock' in good condition which is great and I intend to keep it and not sell it with the boat unless my new one has one..
The rigging has been checked and some shroud tensioners replaced along the way (2001) but functions well. The Chainplate weakened last season on the starboard shroud and I have had that recently re fibre glassed and they have done a great job.
Sprayhood is in very tired condition so I have retired it as I do not use it anyway.The frame is there if this is something you like.
Self tailing winches for the jib sheets are very powerful and reliable and absolutely essential single handed.The halyard winches are not self tailing which is a bit inconvenient, but all lines run back to the cockpit. New stack pack a couple of seasons ago and two new dodgers that I have never fitted.
This Etap has two windows in the "heads" section that were fitted by the previous owner and help add extra light.
Loads of various other gear, mooring ropes, fenders, boarding ladder, tiller pilot, buckets, teak aft table, nav lights, red chart light etc.
I could never be without an Eberspacher heater having had one. It is the D1 LC I think and I use it a lot all year round. My advice would be not to buy a boat without one, at least not in the UK.
I do have a Titan Cradle that I am willing to negotiate separately.
