Cape Dory 36
"The Cape Dory 36 is a true blue water cruiser, yet she is equally well suited for the gentle breezes of an afternoon sail. Carl Alberg designed the 36. She features a "full keel" with attached rudder and cutter rig - important features which assure stability and short handed sailing ease.
Despite the emphasis on Ocean cruising capabilities assuring her ability to stand up in a blow, beat to windward or track effortlessly on long downwind runs, the Cape Dory 36 in not intended solely as a long-distance, passage making yacht. While powerfully built and heavily rigged for offshore work, she was designed to be equally well suited for the gentle breezes of an afternoon sail or a weekend cruise.
The pride of the Cape Dory fleet...a perfect blend of solid workmanship, classic good looks and modern materials." ~ Cape Dory Brochure
"Every hull deck is built using Cape Dory's "quality Engineered" methods. Every piece of fiberglass woven roving is precut to a pattern to insure the exact specified amount of fiberglass. Each Piece of fiberglass woven roving is hand laid in a precise location; the molding resin is carefully worked in by hand.
Deep into each hull, we securely fiberglass the molded ballast. A fiberglass liner or inner hull structure is permanently joined to the hull sor added strength. It also becomes a moisture barrier that results in in dry storage lockers that are easy to clean, a s well as a drier boat.
The deck is a one-piece balsa core sandwich fiberglass molding, bolted to the hull through inboard flange.
Hull and decks are joined with Cape Dory's special bonding materials which incorporate the teak toe rail assuring a solid, permanent joint.
The quality of every boat is carefully controlled through close inspection at every phase of construction. From start to finish, over 360 "quality control" inspections are made...." Cape Dory 36 Brochure
