Phantom is a 1978 45’ Van De Stadt designed sloop made by Halstead Marine in South Africa. She is an extremely strong ocean cruiser with a solid fiberglass hull and deck. Her fin keel, spade rudder and 12’ beam makes her fast, and 8’ custom stainless steel bowsprit makes her a competitive racer. She draws 5’6” and displaces 28,000 pounds. The vessel has many recent upgrades including new wiring, plumbing, through hulls, electronics and autopilot.

The layout has a V-berth forward with a hanging locker, drawer, and cabinet storage along with a large storage compartment under the bunk. Moving aft is another hanging locker in the passageway to starboard and a cabin to port with a Pullman berth, hanging locker, and additional cabinet storage. Moving aft is a head with toilet and sink to starboard. The main cabin has a large settee that can double as a bunk to starboard, a three-seat settee to port and a custom made bulkhead-mounted table that folds down in between them. The main cabin also includes a compact galley with refrigerator, freezer, and two-burner propane stove. To starboard lies a large chart table and access to a good-sized aft quarter berth. Opposite to port is the galley. The boat has a deep, well-protected cockpit area with a pedestal helm. There also is an aft cabin that makes a great storage area but also accommodates two additional singe bunks. The traditional companionway hatch boards have been replaced with a custom swinging door.

The boat has a good compliment of sails with the main sail and 120% genoa having been serviced in the past three years. It also has asymmetrical and symmetrical spinnakers, storm staysail and tri-sail.

The boat is powered by a 42 horsepower OMG 636 diesel that is in good working order. This is a Mercedes Benz designed engine that is commonly marinized and parts are always available through Nanni Diesel. The engine was rebuilt by the former owner sometime prior to 2008.

All electrical was replaced starting in 2008. The boat has a 420 amp hour main battery bank with a Xantrex 100 amp batter charger / 2000 watt true sine wave inverter. The battery charger/inverter has a remote control panel at the nav station. The system also has a battery monitor and separate reserve engine start battery.

The interior of the boat has also received some upgrades with a new propane stove and countertops in the galley, new foam cushions and mattresses and paint.
