New Price big reduction! Incredible opportunity to purchase a gorgeous 35 ft 1977 Sparkman & Stephens Orion 35 vintage three quarter tonner masthead racing sloop with sweet lines, fin keel, and newly painted dark blue hull and Miami tan decks located in the water in Brooklyn, NY. Unlike today’s performance racers, the 70’s and 80’s ¾ tonners were built to race hard, stand up to rough weather and harsh conditions, and last forever. Solid built and rigged, these thoroughbreds are amazingly lively sailors, a joy in light air as well as standing up to the more snotty weather. This is a classic performance boat that can stand up to today’s crop of ultra lights, and which has beautiful lines, and is a treat to sail. Equipped with modern sails, a roller furling genoa and lazy jacks, this is a boat that can be comfortably sailed by a seafaring couple. Stunning in a new coat of navy blue, the hull has the eye pleasing bow line, reverse transom, fin keel, skeg rudder and sensuous underbody which has made Sparkman & Stephens famous over the years. The T cockpit with wheel, Edson style binnacle with rack for electronics, is comfortable for a full crew. A radar arch is mounted over the transom to keep the cockpit clear. The newer dodger is there to keep the spray off. Below she has a layout reminiscent of a Hinkley 35. Forward vee berths occupy the forepeak. Just aft to port is a full head with sink and shower. The main salon sports upper and lower sea berths on each side. There is a proper navigation table to starboard of the companionway. Opposite is a galley area with an alcohol stove and oven. Present owner started a cosmetic upgrade below but does not have the time to finish her up. She needs to be finished off with a new cabin sole and some electronics. The refurbished Universal diesel is mounted and running in place but needs the final set up. She is perfectly fit for sailing, and with some interior finish work will be a shining star. | ||
