Just Because is a perfect little cruiser for a single-hander or a couple. This 1977 25' Bayfield sloop is a compact little ship, roomy for her length. She is well laid out and has everything you need right where you need it. She has a simple sloop rig that is convenient to sail, a spray dodger with isinglass, life lines and teak handrails. Just Because is powered with a reliable 10HP one-cylinder Yanmar diesel and has a new fuel tank. Below decks, you will find a V-berth forward, a porta-potti head with privacy door and opposite, a vanity sink with mirror. Aft of this is a comfortable saloon with two settees/berths and a fold-down dining table large enough to entertain a friend or two. The galley is by the companionway and has a sink with pressure water, an ice-chest, two single-burner stoves, and custom dish lockers. There is storage beneath all berths and a good-sized locker aft on the port side. A moulded-in cabin liner makes for easy cleaning. Book lockers are found behind plexi-glass sliding doors port and starboard. The saloon has a homey feel with warm lighting and miniature paintings adding color and character. An added bonus is her standing headroom and easy access to the cabin through her companionway door and large, sliding hatch.
Just Because has pedestal wheel steering with wheel lock, a teak cockpit grate, and large cockpit lockers. She carries in her inventory of sails three sizes of jib, a whisker pole, and a mainsail with cover. She is supplied with toolboxes and tools and an emergency tiller. Forward is an anchor locker and a bow roller with plow anchor, chain and rode. The decks have moulded-in non-skid. Aft is a built-in swim ladder. Just Because is finished off with carved, teak trailboards and a wooden taffrail, a nice touch of individuality.
This little sweetheart draws only 2'11" with a mast height of 33'4" meaning that you can take her just about anywhere. She would do well on a voyage south to Key West or even beyond. Take a trip down the IntraCoastal Waterway, wind through the marshlands and cypress woods in the morning mist and anchor behind the various coastal towns as the sun lowers over the land. This dream is within reach. What are you waiting for?
