The Neptunian 33 is a long-keel, ketch-rigged, centre-cockpit motor-sailer by Alan Buchanan. More accurately described as a sailing yacht with a large engine, she has the sailing ability of many equivalent 'conventional' yachts, but with the comfort and convenience of a motor-sailer. Overstag is a very well looked after example, and those viewing will be pleasantly surprised at her overall condition compared to yachts of a similar age and type. Of particular interest is the modern Volvo-Penta D2 55hp engine because a newer, quality engine is a major consideration when buying a boat like this - and the advantage this affords over others on the market still fitted with Perkins 4-108s should not be underestimated. She has a very weather-proof helm position and indeed, with the help of the awnings, the whole centre cockpit can be kept rain-tight, even underway. With a good inventory of cruising equipment including davit-mounted dinghy on the stern, she is ready take her new owners voyaging right away, regardless of what the British summer provides. Recent improvements include new hydraulic steering, self-tailing genoa winches and electric anchor windlass. She also has a good selection of up-to-date electronics, and is well-equipped with safety gear. The Neptunian 33 really does pack a lot into her 33 feet, while managing not to compromise on accommodation space. Overstag is an excellent choice for those looking for a 'proper' cruising boat on a modest budget, or anyone moving up from a smaller yacht. Currently lying afloat at Crinan Harbour, the owner is keen to sell before the end of the season, and all enquiries are invited. | ||
