"Kindred Spirit," a Bristol 27 designed by Carl Alberg, is a sloop rigged cruising boat of traditional design featuring a full keel with a cutaway forefoot. Featured in John Vigor's book “Twenty Small Sailboats to Take You Anywhere,” as well as the first boat owned by Sailing Magazine's John Kretschmer, it has a reputation as a seaworthy strongly built vessel. This particular boat is the dinette version that includes a table.

The main cabin has the galley to starboard and seating to port. The table seats 3 to 4 and can be lowered to form a berth. Forward of this is the private head with a hanging locker opposite. A v-berth is located in the forward cabin. There's also a quarter berth aft of the galley and although no cushion is included for it this stowage space is accessible from the cockpit.
The galley features a sink, ice box and a two burner kerosene stove. The boat has a twenty gallon water tank that isn't in use.

Sails and Rigging:
The main sail was new in 2014 and is a roachless-battenless design for low maintenance and high durability. The genoa is serviceable and there's also a jib and the old main. The boat has slab reefing for the main and a Profurl C290 headsail furler installed in 2009. The halyards for main and headsail were new in 2014 and the control lines lead to the cockpit. A fixed length whisker pole is included.
In 2004 the Universal Atomic 4 had a valve job, new carburetor and fuel pump. Since then the engine has accumulated 230 more hours of run time. The fuel system has a Racor filter.
New ball type seacocks were installed in 2004 including on the cockpit scuppers.
The bottom was treated with Interlux Interprotect in 2009. The anti fouling paint is Interlux Micron Extra.
The boat has tiller steering and the rudder was re-built by Hooper's Yachts in 2008.
