The Bristol Channel Cutter has achieved unprecedented respect as a capable & safe passage maker. Dozens of these handsome, stout vessels have made ocean crossings, circumnavigations and are used as cruising homes by sailors who prefer simplicity, integrity and economy in their choice of boats. Few yachts have a more devoted, if not fanatical, group of owners. "Vixen" is hull #2 of the B.C.C.'s to be built by Sam Morse Co. (previous hulls were built in Vancouver, BC). This is the truly rare #2 hull, having been hand finished by designer Lyle Hess's right hand man, Craig Johnson.
Her joiner work is esquisite, her custom bronze hardware would be impossible to duplicate today. Highly recommended to those who seek the highest quality in a well proven cruising classic; a truly special boat.

Hull strengtheners - longitudinal, floors, etc: Laminated false frames glassed in from the sheer clamp to the cabin sole prior to construction of built-ins.
Deck (beams, etc): 1 1/4" yellow cedar over 1/2" plywood bolted through hull flange on 6" centers. Deck beams are support flanges bolted through 1 5/8" by 3 3/4" full length on 14" centers.
Hull to deck joint type and fastenings: sheer clamp, bolted through hull and bulwark stanchions locks on 14" centers.
Bulkheads: marine plywood: painted and trimmed in mahogany. Key hole bulkheads.
Ceiling: Yellow cedar planking, primarily finished bright, except behind the / no molded interior.
