Arete was built in 1975 and is a factory completed vessel. She has had only one owner, and has cruised the Great Lakes, US East Coast, Europe and the Caribbean. She was stored ashore between 1985 and 2004, and received an extensive re-fit between 2000 and 2004. Since this time she has cruised the Maine Coast and has been stored ashore, covered each winter.
Due to her owners' ages, ARETE is now reluctantly offered for Sale. She was launched last season but not sailed, and is now stored ashore and covered at Robinhood Marine.

ARETE was completely constructed at the Westsail factory in California in 1975. She cruised the US Great Lakes and East Coast, and sailed to Europe and the Caribbean for extensing cruising.
In 1985, ARETE was put into storage until being re launched in 2004. During the 2000's, she received a major re-fit which included:
New Beta 37 HP diesel, Transmission, drive shaft and cutlass bearing
All new plumbing, water tanks, fuel tanks and holding tank,
Any blisters on bottom were ground out, filled and bottom was resurfaced with 6 coats of epoxy resin.
Hull was Awlgrip painted (2005)
New double lifelines and gates, new furler and headstay
New sails (2006)
ARETE has cruised easily on the Maine Coast since the re-fit. She can certainly use cosmetics above and below, but is a good, strong vessel otherwise ready to cruise long distances once again.
