This boat was manufactured in Nova Scotia, built in 1975. Only been sailed on Lake Champlain, and is now presently owned by the third owner who has owned and cared for the boat for over 15 years.
Great value if you are looking for a spacious cruiser that also points well and is very sea worthy, all in 26'
This well loved compact cruiser has been actively sailed and yearly maintained since the current owner purchased her back in 1998. In the Spring of 1999 , the bottom paint was stripped down to the gel coat. No sign of osmotic blisters was found. The gel coat was then sealed with a two part epoxy barrier coat and then finished with VC-17 bottom paint. The current owner has also re-caulked the toe rail( 2011) and re-bedded most of the stanchions. Spring prep just requires a new coat or two of VC-17 and then you're sailing. This boat is a great overnight cruiser as it can accommodate five in three single births and one double v-birth. There is a full head with sink forward and a sink, two burner alcohol stove and large ice-box against the aft bulkhead. You would have to step up to a 30' boat to find a roomier craft. The current owner has spent numerous nights weekend and full weeks cruising Lake Champlain in comfort. Under sail, the PY 26 points well with its full 135 Genoa. There is also a working jib on a roller furler and a fully battened mainsail( 2007). All lines lead into the cockpit making this a super easy single-hander. The ground tackle consists of a plow anchor with 60' of 5/8 chain and 40' of nylon rode. This has proven to be a solid system in Lake Champlain. If you are looking for an affordable way for your entire family to start cruising, you could not find a more able craft.
