The Hudson Force 50 is a full keeled pilothouse cutter ketch, from the drawing board of William Garden, a US and Canadian trained naval architect. Introduced in 1973, they were built in Taiwan at the rate of twelve to fifteen per year until 1984 when the boatyard burned down.
Three staterooms, master is aft with head, two double guest cabins forward with shared head and step in shower. Pilothouse with inside helm station, and lower saloon with desk. L-shaped settee to starboard going forward to starboard is a double guest cabin and to port is the head and shower. Forward is an upper and lower to starboard, workbench and cupboards to port.
This is a go anywhere sailboat with a touch of the traditional complete with a long bowsprit and on some boats, wooden spars . Teak abounds above and below decks.

The exterior of this vessel has a cruising cockpit for security and a broad flush foredeck for comfort at anchor and ease of mobility on the vessel when sailing. Below as you step down the companion way, you are in a spacious pilothouse with a steering station to port with a settee just aft of the steering station. To starboard is a entertainment locker with space for a large screen TV and extensive audio equipment. Storage abounds. Aft of the pilothouse is the aft cabin and ensuite head. Forward of the pilothouse one steps down to a lower salon/dinette and galley. The salon is cozy and the galley is to starboard. Forward of the lower salon to starboard is the amidships cabin with double berth and storage, to port is a head with stall shower. Further forward is a large V-berth, storage and anchor locker. A more comfortable layout is almost impossible in a boat this size.
Layout-wise, you will find the pilothouse is an open and airy feeling, thanks to the 360 degree windows allowing the natural light in and an exceptional view out. The comfortable L-shaped dinette settee to port with a mahogany table, and the up-style galley located to starboard which features a 3-burner LPG cook top, a double basin SS sink with a pressurized hot/cold water system and a hand pump freshwater back-up, a roomy front and top-loading freezer/icebox unit, and plentiful storage space in both cabinets and drawers.
