The Trapper 400 is a well-thought out cruiser racer, designed in the late 1950s by Canadians Cuthbertson and Cassian but built in the UK by Anstey Yachts Ltd of Poole, later re-named Trapper Yachts. The Trapper 400 offers a large but safe cockpit and comfortable living accommodation while maintaining performance and excellent sea-keeping abilities.
Mechanical and Electrical
Volvo Penta 9 HP inboard diesel engine with electric start. Sail-drive to fixed pitch two bladed propeller. Raw water cooled. Single lever Morse control. 45 litres fuel capacity giving approximately 150 mile range at a cruising speed of 5 knots.
Electrical Systems 2 x 12v 80 Ahr sealed batteries charged by 45 amp alternator. Batteries selected by 1/2/Both switch 38 wph solar panel and regulator New switch panel and internal wiring throughout (2011)
Rig and Sails
Masthead rigged sloop. Anodised aluminium mast and boom. Aluminium spinnaker boom. Stainless steel standing rigging. Terylene or terylene/wire running rigging. Furlex 100s headsail reefing gear (2008). 2 x halyard winches. 2 x Gibb sheet winches. Mainsail & Genoa valeted 2010/11 and serviced 2011/12 when new sacrificial strip fitted. The accommodation offers four berths in two cabins. In the forecabin is a V shaped double berth. Opening hatch to foredeck. Heads compartment to port containing SL400 marine toilet. Hanging locker opposite. The main saloon contains two single settee berths backed by locker spaces. There is good stowage areas below each berth. The galley area is to starboard with a 2-burner gas cooker and grill. Stainless steel sink and fresh water pump to port with electrical switch panel and navigation area.
