Ted Hood's Bristol 40 is one of the most successful fiberglass production sailboats ever produced. Introduced in the late 1960's as the Bristol 39, she was later improved-upon and renamed the Bristol 40. Production continued into the mid-1980's. Noted for her sweeping sheer, long overhangs, and long full keel with attached rudder, the Bristol 40 is a stunningly beautiful boat.
IRISH MIST is a fine example. She's a centerboard yawl version with a detachable inner forestay that would enable flying a staysail. She has had excellent care and thoughtful updating from her attentive and caring owners. Recent improvements include a dark blue awlgripped hull, awlgripped spars, Herreshoff-style interior with painted white bulkheads and varnished trim, and a new rubrail.
