This Swan 40 is a classic sturdy yacht designed by the legendry Sparkman & Stephens & built in 1970 as hull number 005 of this popular model. Owned by the same family since new, this is a much loved and well used example of this 8 berth cruiser that was originally raced at Cowes & Poole during the 70’s but has been primarily cruised since then. Although in need of some cosmetic TLC to bring her back to her best, she has been maintained throughout her life with a new Nanni 4150 HE diesel Engine fitted circa 2000 & in 2012 she had her standing rigging & Mast Step replaced. She has a Seldon Mast, Navtec hydraulic backstay & 4 Barlow Winches along with Reckman headsail furling gear. She also has a VHF, wireless depth gauge, Furuno GPS & self steering wheel pilot & comes with 2 mainsails with slab reefing & lazy jacks, spinnaker & several genoas & storm Jib. This would be a great boat for a Swan Enthusiast that wishes to refit a boat to their own specs. She had an insurance survey in 2012 and is currently lying ashore in Chichester and is available for viewings through Aspire Boat Sales.

This Swan 40 is clearly a yacht of distinction that emanates from the famous Sparkman & Stephens stable. Built in 1970 she has been owned and loved by just one family from new who initially raced her but have spent all her recent years as a Cruiser with many European & UK passages completed. She has been updated & maintained throughout her life including a new engine in 2000 & new standing rigging & mast step in 2012 and although seaworthy, it is fair to say that her new owner will probably wish to update her and apply some TLC to bring her back to her best. However once refitted, she has potential to continue to be a classic of her time & a true beauty that willmake her new owner very proud.
This Swan 40 is currently lying ashore in Chichester and is available for viewings through Aspire Boat Sales at any time.
