Here is a sweet 1970 Morgan 34’ centerboard sloop with recent upgrades including a new Yanmar Diesel (2009) lying in Clinton CT. Designed by Charles Morgan, and built by Morgan Yachts in 1970, Serena has the classic lines of the traditional sailing sloop. The flag blue topsides enhance her long overhangs and lovely shear. The full keel houses the centerboard for a remarkable shallow draft (39”) solid and stable sailor with exceptional sailing qualities. Her condition is excellent, she is ready to be put back in the water and ready to sail.

It is not often that you can find a truly well found sailor equally able to cruise down east, or, with her shallow draft, be perfectly comfortable cruising the Bahamas. Serena is solidly built, well maintained and has had her wiring redone to meet ABYS in the very recent past. The 2009 Yanmar diesel alone makes this boat stand out from other cruisers in her class. At 34 feet and 14 tons, she is a solid steady sailor big enough to take offshore and small enough to be easily single or double handed. With the board down, she sails beautifully to weather and tracks in a cross sea. She has all the sailing characteristics of a much larger vessel with the ease and economy of a smaller auxiliary sloop.

Two aft double quarter berths provide comfortable sea berths while underway. The CNG gimbaled oven and three burner stove are just what you need for hot meals on a transit to Bermuda or a  month cruising Penobscot bay’s upper reaches. Serena has undergone a no nonsense refit and is truly a well equipped able sailor, a perfect cruiser for weekends afloat, a month’s cruise, or a passage to the West Indies, or even a live aboard.
