Bristol Yachts was started by Clint Pearson, after leaving Pearson Yachts in 1964. The second design of the newly-formed Bristol Yacht Company, the Bristol 29 was designed by a local marine architect, Halsey Herreshoff. Internal ballast is lead, and the lead is fitted into the forward end of the keel and encapsulated in polyester resin.
