"Its like they put a wooden boat inside a fiberglass hull."
Legacy is one of eight original Custom fiberglass hulls designed by Bill Tripp Jr. and built by Henry Hinckley. The B-40, as they are commonly referred, triumphs as the longest running production fiberglass sailboat in history. Between 1959 and 1991 203 hulls came from the Maine operation, across three variations of this generously proportioned design. Legacy is Hull #2.
The shallow centerboard keel is Ideal for shoal-water cruising, and Hinckley's hearty and proven construction are well suited for coastal or blue water cruising. Tall Rig and aluminum boom were redesigned by famed naval achictect Bill Lapworth from Cal Boat fame, making this vessel truly one of a kind. As a two-owner yacht this B-40 has spent her entire life on the West Coast.
Meticulously maintained with fresh Awl-gripped decks and exterior varnish in May 2017 and fresh sails in 2016, Legacy embodies the first class attention to detail deserving of a classic yacht.

Stepping down the B-40 companionway enters you into a world of mahogany. Hull#2 features the standard 6 berth B-40 layout. To port and starboard are double pilot berths accented with a batten ceiling accompanied with convertible settees beneath.
Entertaining is made simple with a drop leaf table. The entire space can be heated by the classic B-40 SS diesel stove with independent fuel tank.
The B-40 Galley is conveniently located beneath the companionway. The L-shape space is nicely appointed with a SS double sink and Force10 stove which has been converted to Natural Gas. Refrigerator can be found opposite the stove and cleverly doubles as a navigation station.
Walking forward of the salon you find a spacious head with shower to port. The V-berth owner's cabin, in the classic Herschoff Style, features his and hers mahogany hanging lockers. The entire cabin is brought to life with vanished teak and holly floorboards under your feet.
