De Anza III was launched with great fanfare in 1959, in Vancouver, BC, Canada. De Anza is, in a word, exquisite. Her design and construction was an exercise of all involved in launching the finest motoryacht in her class, regardless of cost. You will find her photographs, as well as her descriptions here to be accurate and current. De Anza III is not a restored yacht from the past. She has been fortunate in having a short list of owners who have kept her in pristine condition, and updated through the years. Her joinery is stunning and her sea keeping abilities are superb. Those who find themselves in a search for a special world class large wooden yacht are often left with a choice of a Trumpy style vessel, or the cruisers of the 20's. While the older bridgedeck cruisers are stunning as well, the round bottoms, limited headroom, and narrower beams are not desirable to some of us. De Anza III answers this calling with her absolutely stunning lines and head turning presence, as well as sea keeping abilities that only a dramatically flared bow, hard chine, wide beam and low center of gravity can deliver. She has been host to many dignitaries, as well as providing her owners with wonderful and private cruising. While she does have crew quarters, she is regularly single handed by her current owner. Her twin Detroits are 2 stroke diesels, providing not only an enormous reserve of power, but they also spin up very freely to provide that power in unmatched swiftness. This responsiveness reduces marina maneuvering to very predictable and drama free events. She eliminates the necessity to be slave to the tide tables with her top end of 19 knots, yet she cruises very economically at 1 gallon of diesel per knot at 11 knots. An ideal candidate for social functions and cruising the great Northwest. When on board her after deck, you are surrounded by a very tastefully designed and executed Mahogany and clear panel structure, allowing for comfortable lounging and entertaining in rain or shine. Her helm in the wheelhouse commands a 360 degree view, allowing clear vision for both the vistas encountered and also for the basic safety of all on board. You descend in to the main salon area, which is surrounded by safety glass which provides unobstructed views for all inside at both cruise and anchor. This main salon is elegant, yet is as liveable as your favorite room in your home. Those aboard sleep in 3 separate suites, with a Queen in the master, and 2 singles in each of the remaining 2 staterooms. Additionally, there are 3 heads on board. De Anza III is currently very happy living outdoors. She has full canvas covers for all of her brightwork, reducing maintenance of her magnificent collection of woods to a minimum. She overcomes the dichotomy of entertaining large groups, and providing an intimate atmosphere for your life's adventures. De Anza III awaits your request for a superb vessel which will allow frequent entertaining, and also provide you with a venue for your family's fondest memories of cruising in grand comfort and style. Should financing be required, you will be pleasantly surprised to know that she can be financed AND insured at the same rates as plastic boats; and she is also in a location blessed with a population of professionals which will ensure that she is ready to provide reliable and predictable cruising for generations to come. De Anza III also has a very affordable transferable slip, poised at the gateway to the San Juan Islands, the Puget Sound, British Columbia, and beyond. | ||
