HERO is Concordia Yawl # 22 built by Abeking & Rasmussen and commissioned in 1954.  She is offered in very good to excellent condition by (only) her third owner in 55 years.  Surveyed most recently by Paul Haley in 2008, she has a great combination of structure, systems and cosmetics.

HERO is both very original and at the same time unique.  With her five-berth arrangement original from Abeking, HERO offers more space in the main cabin, setting her apart from her typical four-berth sisters.  Her custom built in v-berth bunks (also original from A&R) called "The Donovan Plan" for her original owner allows a permanent set of bunks with substantial storage beneath.  On the port side she has a pipe berth above a pull out bunk which offers both more room in the main cabin and more storage.

She is a beautiful example of an original Concordia and has been tastefully updated with an eye toward keeping many of the updates hidden to maintain the original look and feel of her time. Her history is interesting, featuring six years cruising in the Baltic Sea with a family of five aboard each summer, and many years of summer sailing throughout New England. In 1989 her decks were overlaid with 3mm marine plywood and fiberglass set in West System Epoxy with non-skid (again updated in Spring 2011). Her cabin trunk sides, coamings, toe rails, and where they meet the quarter-round & deck are all Bristol.

The engine is a rebuilt Graymarine coupled to a recently replaced transmission. The sails feel and sound new (upgraded between 2006–2008). All of the wiring has been replaced to true yacht restoration standards. New Garmin GPS/Radar and Tacktick wind instruments. Canvas awning and winter cover and cushions are in excellent condition. In short, she is not in need of any major structural or even major cosmetic work. In this regard this is truly a vessel "ready to go".

It should be noted that while HERO has benefitted from being stored in the water during the winter, her rig comes out and is stored indoors each winter.  One look at the care that goes into the standing rigging and the spars themselves tells a story of the kind of ownership she has enjoyed.

HERO has had her Fall varnish, rig unstepped, spars stored inside.  She is stored in the water with her new canvas cover installed (2011).  OFFERS ENCOURAGED!
