From West Bath, Maine, Fred Larrabee (at 80 yrs) was pulled from retirement to build another boat, then totaling more than 300. Rugosa underwent a huge renovation '91-'94. That owner is still the owner today and has maintained the vessel in BRISTOL condition. Owner has new projects ahead and is anxious to find a good steward for this great vessel.

Bunk space for four persons. Opposing settees have cushioned backs which swing upward to make hanging bunks. Upper bunks measure 72" x 29". Lower bunks are 72" x 30-35". Small storage locker adjacent to each settee. Headroom is 5'11"
Port midship is a single enamel coated cast iron sink. Faucets are Ivory handles and brass. Spigot and auxiliary pump is bronze. Three drawers and cupboard below. Counter tops are mahogany.
Starboard is a Model T Heritage Galley Stove by Paul E Luke, Inc. of East Boothbay, Maine. Insulated ice box and a cupboard below.
Electronics & Navigation The bronze 'E.O.T' (Engine Order Telegraph) controls the selection of forward and reverse gears, engine choke and throttle speed.

Deck and Cockpit
The entire deck is Honduras Mahogany. A full width sofa frame stores beneath the stern deck.It rolls forward on rubber wheels and locks in place with a brake. Storage beneath the cushion platform. Makes a comfortable sofa by day or a spacious berth at night. Screen panels may be fitted to canopy frame.
The cockpit's overhead is much like a bimini, pipe framed and fabric covered. Headroom in this area is 6'3". An Oak whiskey barrel. starboard forward, hides the propane tank for the Heritage stove. The helm chair was designed and crafted by the owner. The mahogany panel that holds all gauges tilts forward for access to wire connections.

RUGOSA - 30' Flush Deck Cruiser
'52 Built West Bath by Fred Larrabee for Merton Snipe of Topsham, Maine 5/4 pine on 1 3/8 x 1 3/8 oak ribs 11"-12" on Ctr. fastened with copper rivets - still in excellent condition.
Engine 1964 Palmer IH264 (150hp), 6 cylinder gas, rebuilt in 1995. Paragon HFD transmission, 2.5 to 1 reduction. Walters Keel cooler, wet exhaust, Stainless shaft 1 1/8",18" x 16" four bladed prop. Choke, throttle and shift on bronze Engine Order Telegraph. 45 gallon gas tank.
3 year restoration project by present owner. New sternpost, garboards-rear, approx 33% of planking, 44 ribs reinforced, all decks and deck framing new, windshield & coaming new. All new framing of white oak, decks and coamings - Honduras mahogany. Transom rebuilt, all interior replaced except much trim of Cuban mahogany retained.
Outer decks are 7/8 x 7/8 mahogany, fastened edge & toe nailed with stainless ring nails with urethane glue, fiberglass & epoxy over.
Equipment: Raytheon VHF, Raytheon Loran & sounder.Air horn (bronze from Tug boat. Wilcox Crittenden Senior, 12 gal holding tank - stainless. 100 gals of water, 30 is hot- shower, sink, wash down hose -(hot or cold)....."
