Designed by J Francis Jones as a Guernsey Pilot Cutter and of heavy construction, she was originally a motor vessel but was ballasted to allow for a working sail rig. Subsequently converted to a Bermudan cutter. She is a very good sea boat and has had a lot of professional work in the last 5 yrs including new seacocks, standing and running rigging, garboards recaulked, new rudder.
Carvel 1” mahogany planking on bent oak frames 11/2” x 7/8” at 6” spacings. Copper fastened. Wood and steel floors, iron keel bolts. Long iron keel. New Oak/iroko rudder 2011. Garboards and hull re-caulked where necessary, hull scraped back and repainted and antifouled. 2011. Antifoul and bootline re-done 2014.
Decks and Cockpit
Solid teak deck, Coelan coated, but teak on ply on side decks by the cockpit. Tiller steering. Stainless steel deck fittings.
Mahogany coachroof coamings, varnished. Teak coachroof deck canvas covered and painted. . Forehatch resealed and stripped and re-varnshed 2014.
Coachroof, cockpit coamings and toe rail cappings revarnished 2012.
Deck stepped anodised aluminium mast. Wooden boom, roller reefing. 8’ wooden bowsprit.
SS standing rigging, rigging screws and terminals. External SS chainplates.
Twin standing backstays. Running backstays.
Mast winches: Mainsail, Jib and Foresail wire tensioner. 2 x cockpit jib winches.
Rigging, lights and wiring all overhauled 2012 by Atlantic rigging.
