Layout & Design:
The vessel is a standard wood production series built by the Chris Craft Corporation in the 38 Sedan model line. It has a modified vee hull configuration with a raked stem, transomed stern and hard chines, designed primarily as a recreational cruiser. Power is provided by twin gasoline inboards mounted midships, connected to shaft driven props. The interior layout consists of an aft cockpit area with wood sole, having tankage mounted below; Forward into the cabin is a large salon area with the helm in the forward port corner, having the engines and tankage installed below the salon sole; Forward and down, the galley is to starboard, with the enclosed head forward of the galley; A convertible dinette is opposite along the port side; Bow area is a private cabin, with an anchor rope locker in the forepeak. The upholstery and window coverings have been recently upgraded as new. Upgraded teak and holly soles have been laid throughout the salon and forward cabin areas. Mahogany wall panelling is installed throughout the salon, showing well with a professional quality varnish finish applied. The vessel provides accommodations for six.
Material and type of construction - The hull is wood construction, with the hullsides carvel planked in sawn mahogany timber, batten fastened. The bottom utilizes double plank construction methods, with inner planking laid diagonally over sawn oak bottom frames that are positioned along the bilge on approximately 13” centres. Sawn mahogany planking is laid over the exterior surfaces, with a layer of bedding compound applied between the two layers. Silicon bronze and stainless steel fasteners have been used, not drawn for inspection. Intermediate ribs are positioned between the bottom frames for additional integrity. Hullside frames are joined to the bottom frames along the chines with the use of knees. Four longitudinal sawn timber stringers are installed along the bilge to provide integrity to the hull and to act as beds for engine mountings. The hull is bulkheaded at four stations to add further to its integrity. The inner keel, stem, layboards, chines and sheer clamp are all sawn oak timber. The hullsides have a professional quality paint finish applied, showing well, with isolated blemishes developing. The transom is mahogany planked with a good quality varnish finish applied. The decks are wood construction with marine grade plywood laid over sawn timber frames, having mahogany strip planking overlaid the foredeck areas, with sawn mahogany timber laid along the side and aft decks. The foredeck grouting is in good condition. A professional quality varnish finish has been applied over the fore and side deck areas. The cabintop is wood construction, with fibreglass overlaid the exterior surfaces. Exterior surfaces of the cabinsides have a professional quality varnish finish applied. The cockpit sole is planked in teak.
Propellers – Three blade bronze, LH & RH rotation props.

Shaft logs – Bronze logs hose connected to bronze glands with hose sleeves.
Struts and Bearings – Bronze, dagger style struts with an intermediate hanger forward of each strut all fitted with cutlass bearings.

Skeg - Sawn timber skeg, through bolted the hull along the keel, drawn tight and well bedded.

Description and condition of exhaust system - The exhaust is raw water cooled with two cast manifolds with copper collector pipes installed on each engine, connected to a single hose running aft to separate cast mufflers suspended from the salon sole. Each muffler is in turn hose connected to a copper pipe exiting the transom corners through properly bedded flanges. Hoses are in serviceable condition, with connections double clamped.
Engine room ventilation - The system is intact, upgraded from the original.

Exhaust for generator - The exhaust is raw water cooled with a single cast manifold installed, hose connected to a fibreglass canister muffler mounted below the cockpit sole, in turn hose connected to a properly bedded flange installed in the transom. Hoses are of approved type, in serviceable condition with all connections double clamped.
Engine sea connection (x2), bronze fittings with gate valves, located one aft of each engine. The hoses are in serviceable condition with the connection to the valve single clamped and secure.
Air conditioner pump sea connection, bronze fitting with ball valve and strainer, located aft of port engine, hoses are in serviceable condition with the connection to the valve double clamped and secure.
Generator sea connection, bronze fitting with ball valve and strainer, located aft of the starboard engine, with the strainer loose on the valve, having water seepage evident at the threads. The hose is in serviceable condition with the connection to the valve double clamped.
Refrigerator compressor sea connection, bronze fitting with ball valve, located aft of the starboard engine. The hose is in serviceable condition with the connection to the valve single clamped and secure. No room is available for placement of a second securing clamp. The hose has a check valve to prevent loss of prime.
Deck washdown pump sea connection, bronze fitting with gate valve and strainer, located aft of the starboard engine. Hoses are in serviceable condition with the connection secure
Forward looking depth sounder transducer mounted forward of the port engine, and sumlog / depth sounder transducer mounted along the keel, inboard from the head, both well bedded and secure.
FUEL TANKS AND SYSTEM:
No. of tanks – Two upgraded fuel tanks are installed, with each having a manufacturing date stamp of 12/00.
Location – The tanks are installed on wood bunks, below the aft cockpit sole.
Material – 5052 Aluminum Capacity – 110 U.S. gallons / 417 litres each.
Filled from deck - Fuel rated hose has been run from each tank pick-up fitting to the respective deck plate. Hoses are in serviceable condition, with connections secure and deck plates static bonded to the respective tank.
Vented to Atmosphere – Fuel rated hose has been run from each tank fitting to a vent installed in the hull. Hoses are in serviceable condition with connection to each tank secure.

Shut-off valves at tank - A mechanical ball type valve is installed at the inlet side of the engine and generator fuel filters, as well as at each tank pick-up fitting.
Type and condition of fuel line(s) – Fuel rated hose has been run for the entire system, upgraded from the original, with new spin-on filters mounted aft of the engines.
Generator fuel lines – Fuel rated hose has been run for the generator, upgraded from the original, with an upgraded fuel filter mounted to the starboard side of the generator. Hoses are in serviceable condition with connections secure.

Installation - The complete fuel system was upgraded as new at the time of the refurbishing project, with work carried out in a professional manner, in accordance with ABYC standards.
WIRING AND ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:
Voltage - 12 volt and 120 volt systems are installed. Both systems have been upgraded from the original, with work carried out in a professional manner, in accordance with ABYC recommended practices.
Type of wire - Approved wiring for each system has been run.
Circuits are fused and circuit breakers are fitted – The 120 volt and 12 volt systems have breaker over-current protection provided.
Vapour proof switch is present – (3) Battery switches are installed on the side of the helm.
Condition of wiring in engine compartment - Wiring has been run in harnesses throughout, secured and protected along the runs. Insulated crimp connectors have been used in all areas.
DC wiring fuse panel - location and condition – An upgraded marine service panel is mounted in the forward, starboard corner of the salon, fitted with a total of (13) branch circuits, all labelled with breaker over-current protection provided. Various inline fuse holders have also been utilized. DC amp and voltmeters are installed in the panel.
AC wiring, 110 volt, location and description of outlets and wiring - The 110 volt power enters the vessel through a 30 amp inlet mounted at the forward, starboard corner of the cockpit, upgraded from the original. An onboard double pole main breaker is installed in an upgraded marine service panel mounted within the locker area at the forward, starboard corner of the salon, along with a breaker power source selector system for shore, generator or inverter power source selection. Power is distributed through (8) branch circuits, all labelled with breaker over-current protection provided. A polarity indicator, AC voltmeter and AC amp meter are installed in the panel. Duplex receptacles are installed throughout, all in protective boxes, with GFI protection provided where required. The system has been upgraded from the original, with work carried out in a professional manner, in accordance with ABYC recommended practices.
Batteries, location and type - There are (4) 6 volt HD golf cart batteries installed along the keel at the forward end of the engine compartment,; (2) 12 volt, lead acid batteries, one outboard of each engine; (1) 12 volt lead acid battery mounted aft of each engine- (1) for the generator and (1) for backup. 120 volt alternator affixed to port engine
Batteries are properly secured - The batteries are all secured within boxes.
Ventilated boxes with covers are provided – Covers have been installed.
Additional electrical equipment - Heart Interface Freedom Marine 25 power inverter/charger mounted in the aft dinette seat base, Heart Interface Link 1000 battery status monitor on the side of the helm, Battery isolator at the forward starboard corner of the engine compartment, DC voltmeter with selector switch in the service panel, for monitoring battery condition; DC amp meter in the service panel.
