1947 Eugene Cornu/Jouet 58' Wooden Ketch. LOA 58' Beam 14' Draft 7'8" is located in Florida. This classic design, fast cruising yacht is undergoing restoration, but is available for sale to the right buyer who wants to own one of these beautiful yachts and restore her to their own specifications. Another restored Eugene Cornu/Jouet yacht with the sloop rig, of similar vintage, is currently for sale for more than $600,000. You can buy this one for $72,000. Cornu, a French naval architect was hired by Paul Jouët in 1926 and spent most of his design career with the Jouët firm. Best known for the small cruiser, the BALOUGA (1943), of which nearly 1000 were built, but with many other yachts and dinghys to his credit. His nephew, Andre Cornu, was the designer of the Interational 470. Eugene Cornu (1903-1987) designed the plans for many pleasure boats, renowned for both their elegance and strength. In the world of yachting, "Cornu" became a common name. This is one of his larger models. It comes with a 71C Westerbeke with @4000 hrs in it. The interior is currently gutted to allow for the customization and rebuild to her glorious past. It is an ongoing project that is just taking longer than the current owner would like although he hopes to make some serious inroads into the restoration over the next 4 - 6 months. The structure, as with all Cornu/Jouet yachts is very sound with mahogany planking, and as you can see from the current pictures of the masts, they are in excellent shape. This is a one of a kind opportunity for you to own this classic beauty. If ownership is not in your future, the owner will consider options for you to charter the vessel by helping to fund the restoration. Details to be decided between you and the owner.
