Designed right before WWII and built right after, the Island Clipper was a harbinger of the recreational boating craze to come; Fellows & Stewart built 17 of them (out of fir on oak with silicon bronze screws—fiberglass sailboats were still a couple of decades away!) in 1946 alone. With long overhangs and a raised cabin top, these sleek sloops were beautiful to look at and, with a deep wineglass-shaped hull, a joy to sail.
This particular example is owned by a professional shipwright, has been maintained at Sausalito's Arques Shipyard (long renowned for their skill with wood boats) for the past 10+ years and shows bristol inside and out. Some highlights: Repowered with a 27 hp Westerbeke diesel (with less than 100 hours clocked), just hauled (August 2014) and bottom and topsides painted, cockpit and aft cabin bulkhead totally rebuilt, mast totally rebuilt, chain plates rebolted, diamond rig (AKA "jock strap") installed, several planks replaced, largely rewired including new panel, electronics updated, varnish renewed--and more.
Note that she been surveyed regularly under current owner, who's also gone through every inch of Serena over the years. Also note that she's lying in a potentially transferable downtown Sausalito slip. There's always a waiting list to get in the marinas here, so this is a material benefit if you're able to take advantage.

Deck and Hull
Traditionally built of carvel planked 7/8" Douglas fir on steam bent oak frames on 12" centers with silicon bronze wood screws and bronze keel bolts, marine plywood subdecks with planked teak over. As noted elsewhere, vessel's owned by a shipwright who's worked diligently to find and eliminate any problems re structure of the boat--rebuilt cockpit and bulkhead, replaced planks, rebolted chainplates, pulled and checked a ton of fasteners, etc--so I'd be surprised to discover any issues of note in survey.
Boat was just hauled in August of 2014 and the bottom and topsides were both painted; she shows SPECTACULARLY right now!
