One of the popular Herreshoff 12 1/2s built by the Herreshoff Manufacturing Company, MAELSTROME was for many years very well cared for by a highly regarded Massachusetts boatyard particularly knowledgeable about wooden boats. The currents owner has owned her since 2007, and under his ownership, MAELSTROME has been completely re-caulked and given new floorboards in both the seating area and under the foredeck, new doors to the forward and aft compartments, and several new frames. The work was very well done by Redd's Pond Boatworks. In addition, MAELSTROME has been stripped, repainted, and varnished, with exception of the cockpit seats, which have been varnished but not stripped and redone. We feel that MAELSTROME can be well recommended for one desiring one of these classic daysailers, which offer incredible space and comfort and excellent sailing characteristics.
