1941 72' Steel, double hull converted Tug named "EVER" is a classic Tug converted to a live aboard Cruiser.

“"Live The Dream" soon to be in Florida for the first time in six years.This classic live aboard custom converted 1941 tugboat 72' x 24' x 8' is heavily built of core 10 steel (no rust!!). ONE OF A KIND VESSEL. Modern Detroit 8V92 diesel w/ 300 hrs. Long range capability w/ 7.7 gal per hr. fuel burn. Modern galley, three staterooms, fully air conditioned, 2 heads master w/ tub. Walnut paneled library w/ skylight. 50 ton deck winches, wing tanks (great storage), 9,000 gal. fuel, 1,500 water.
Runs perfectly even in big seas. Sits heavy. Very comfortable vessel for cruising or living aboard in your location of choice. 2010 haul, no survey. Double steel plated bottom, re-plated 2000 by Norfolk shipyard.
Maximum range with fuel is over 8,000 miles while running the generator (9,000 gal. diesel capacity). Cruise speed is seven knots. 1.1 miles to the gallon (or 7.7 gallons per hour). That is very inexpensive to operate such a large vessel, especially when buying diesel in bulk at around $3.00 / gallon.

Three state rooms two full heads.. Master, full size bed, aft against engine room bulkhead. Laundry room, plumbed and 220v, no appliances. Walking forward to your right(port side of the vessel) is a spare room which was a proposed forth bedroom. It is finished in a light wood with shelves and a built in desk. The previous owner told me that was his wife's sewing room. Walking forward on high gloss parquet wood flooring ( w/ access hatches for bilges (bilges are bone dry, she carries NO water in her bilges) fuel tank supplies and returns, etc.. Again on your right is a lovely upper and lower extra long berths, built in dresser, closet and antique writing desk. On the left side of the companionway another upper and lower berth with built in storage underneath. And a hanging locker.
I have lived aboard for 6 years this month, and still finding hidden cubbies and storage areas. All the way forward in the focsile there is a stair case leading back up to the galley ( aka alternative fire escape route). I call this the Mancave, paneled in lovely cedar ship lap planking ( looks like Noah's Ark). Entertainment center, tv, stereo, twin cassette player, vhs w/ an extensive library of music of the era when the conversion was done 1985-1990, there is a collection of National Geographic magazine from 1924-1974 (complete). Built in curved basket with even more storage under.
I am only the third owner. The previous owner purchased her in 1985 removed the original Atlas 400 hp engine weighing in at 33,000 lbs. and donated it to the Smithsonian Institute where she is still operational! Replaced with a BRAND NEW FACTORY FRESH Detroit Diesel from Penske Diesel in La.. She is an 8V92 T. 400 hp The tug had laid idle from 2000-2010 when I purchased her, and she showed only 900 running hours. However sitting not pickled and unattended due a family tragedy, she was tight, knowing always one valve is open she was contaminated. I had the Detroit tech do an in frame major replacing every part excluding the engine block, crank and cam shaft. She now has 300 hours which I have put on her. The gen set is 15 kW Yanmar engine. I upgraded the old air conditioning to modern energy efficient Mini splits.
The Master bath has a full marble tub. The guest head a full shower. A large grey water tank and a large black water tank that is US Navy specs, as the previous owner is a Gov't contractor; which of course, we know as NO budget. She pumped overboard and totally potable! The two heads themselves are Sloan flush trouble free, never clogs.30 gal water heater. She bunker 1500 gal of fresh water, never have I run out.
Tug EVER has Kobelt hydraulic rudder controls on port and starboard wing stations which allow for surgical docking ability, couple with a monsterously huge rudder with a 7 ' wheel swinging against it.
On the roof of the wheel house there is a hand crafted copper bald eagle weather vane. Very cool! The helm is Tobin bronze and was salvaged by the previous owner from a wreck in Edinbouro Scotland. In the skylight gentlemans library there are models of ships and nautical scenes and artifacts from his salvage diving in the China Sea, just extra cool shit.
The furniture in the main salon consists of Ralph Lauren Polo leather couch, love seat and recliner. There is a small breakfast table with two very special dolphin chairs, finally one leather chair from the Hemingway collection. High low table, other side tables and lamps and decorator accessories. I was married to an interior designer for 20 years.
The deficiencies that I am aware of are as follows:
The oven is inop. I believe a power surge took out the printed circuit board, however the 4 burners work fine, and I have a Waring toaster oven.
The wood trim on the skylight has soft spots, and should be addressed.
The 24 volt 72 mile radar no longer powers up.

The previous owner had planned to circumnavigate by working her as a tug from port to port before tragedy stuck his family and he just walked off and let her sit for 10 years.

UNDER THE SALON BELOW DECKS IS A MASTER STATEROOM, A LARGE HEAD AND BATHTUB, THEN FORWARD TO THE PORT AND STARBOARD ARE GUEST STATEROOMS AND A POSSIBLE "MAN CAVE " IN THE FORE PEAK THAT COULD BE CREW QUARTERS,
AFT OF THE MASTER S/R IS A COMPLICATED, EXTRAORDINARY ENGINE COMPARTMENT WITH A DETROIT 8V92 DIESEL WITH 300 HRS THAT REPLACED A HUGE ATLAS IMPERIAL THAT WAS SO COOL THAT THE SMITHSONION INSTITUTE PUT IT ON DISPLAY IN WASHINGTON, DC. IT DRIVES A HUGE SHAFT WITH A BELT THAT LOOKS LIKE IT'S A FOOT WIDE TURNING A 7 FT PROP!! AFT IS A 15 KW GEN SET. TANKS SURROUND THE ENG ROOM HOLDING 9000 GAL OF FUEL. EVERYTHING ON "EVER" IS MASSIVE. SHE DRAWS 42 FEET IN HEIGHT, 8' DRAFT LOADED WITH FUEL AND 1600 GAL OF WATER.' 40 GAL HYDRAULIC TANK.
EACH WING STATION HAS HYDRAULIC JOG STEERING.
AIR CONDITIONING HAS BEEN UP GRADED TO VERY EFFICIENT SPLIT UNITS DRAWING 3 AMPS EACH.
THEIR IS A WELDING MACHINE INSTALLED INSIDE THE VESSEL TO CONTINUE THE CONVERSION.!!
