Sparkman & Stephens One Design #68, 1934, designed for the Dark Harbor summer community on Islesboro, Maine. For sale is Hull #4, built by George Lawley & Sons. With LOA of 30'2", Datum Waterline of 20'0", Beam 6'6", Draft 4'2", Disp 4800 lbs, Sail Area of 380 Sq/Ft, this was one of the first designs to benefit from and validate the test data results of water tank testing.

Of the original 21 boats, one was lost in a hurrican but all the others could pony up to the starting flag this season, such is their longevity. To quote Olin Stephens, "These boats are well balanced in their ability to meet the varying weather conditions, averaging moderate to strong southwesterlies. They are nimble, exciting to race, and typically carry a crew of three. Displacement is light and beam is moderate toward narrow; the hull easily driven."

These classic yachts are very handsome.

#4 has had extraordinary maintenance throughout its life.
Within the past 5 years it has been reribbed, refastened, new floors and floor bolts, new rub and toe rails, new compass, refinished interior and bilges. #4 has been out of the water for two years and all pictures are of the boat as it is, in storage.
