THIS BEAUTIFUL YACHT NEEDS WORK URGENTLY. ROT HAS BEEN FOUND IN THE BOW, AND SHE NEEDS A NUMBER OF SISTER RIBS IN HER AFT SECTION. THE PRICE IS NEGOTIABLE, BUT THE VESSEL IS FOR SALE 'AS IS, 'WHERE IS'. THE ENGINE IS EXCELLENT, AND SHE IS BEAUTIFULLY FITTED OUT. IDEAL AS A LIVE-ABOARD.
'Kareela' is an absolutely charming classic motor yacht built in 1930 by master shipwrights of New Zealand Kauri over spotted gum. This yacht was designed by no other than William Fife of Scotland, and built by the prestigious Holmes Motor Yachts. She is one of the loveliest motor cruiser we have ever seen.
'Kareela' turns heads wherever she goes, with her proud bow, beautifully shaped canoe stern, and quality fit-out throughout. This vessel is comfortable on the ocean, having sailed many times up and down the coast of NSW and QLD. She hardly rolls in the swell thanks to her lead ballast, and is not bothered by large following seas thanks to her canoe stern.
Cherished and respected as a true lady of the sea by her successful and knowledgeable owners, 'Kareela' has always been beautifully maintained. Over the years and with the progress of technology, she has been equipped with creature comforts and electronic equipment, such as air conditioning, hot and cold shower, shore power, radar, plotter, autopilot, etc.
Safe to enjoy for the whole family, her decks are easy to walk around and well protected. her aft deck is a charming, weather protected little area, where a long removable bench, large marine BBQ, and solid timber collapsible table will provide the perfect setting for long lunches or happy hour. Two comfortable single mattresses with tasteful upholstery can be placed on the cabin top, which is very clever use of this space and will surely be a favorite for siestas or on hot summer nights.
The deck forward is easily accessed, and provide a wide area where one can reach the anchor winch, which is of solid bronze, and the bowsprit. A beautiful butterfly hatch, and another hatch above the head area provides plenty of light below as well as cross ventilation.
'Kareela' presents so many assets in her 46' size. Her galley is also a very comfortable to relax or talk to your friends while cooking lunch. At night, it makes a very comfortable cabin, with two large single berths on either sides.
Up in the steerage, which is also the main cabin of the boat, another two settees make good single berths, especially for children. The third area, forward of the steerage, is the master cabin, with a double berth to one side and a single berth to the other. This cabin also accesses the head area, where an electric toilet with holding tank and hot and cold shower is fitted. Storage is plentiful throughout the boat, with ample draws, lockers and even a large hanging locker with full size mirror in the main cabin. Her cabinetry is of oregon and mahogany, which give her a warm and classic feel. Her headroom is generous (2m), and her various set of steps wide and secure to us for the whole family.
Other than her beautiful lines and historical pedigree, 'Kareela' presents such assets as:
