Built from Kauri and Huon pine, this cutter was commissioned by F.N. Clarke of Hobart, in Tasmania She was the 484th yacht to go down the slips at the Robert Inches yard. She was renamed Nanoya and changed hands several times in Sydney, Australia, before the end of the 1940s. Then, after a two-year voyage, she arrived in Barcelona. In 1971 she hoisted the Italian flag as she began charter work out of Alghero. In the 1990s, Fairlie III was renovated by the Fioravanti yard of Cervia, after plans by the Sciomachen Studio in Bologna, and has had her fore and aft cutter status renewed. Between 2003 and 2005, she underwent further renovations at the Ippolito yard in Livorno with the involvement of Classic Yachts Management of Milan. Part of her valuable Kauri planking was replaced with pitch pine. Her new owner is Tuscan accountant Stefano Paparelli
