Mercury 350 Verado Video: First Look

For 2015, Mercury has introduced the 350 Verado outboard.

Mercury racing introduced a 350 HP version of the Verado outboard a few years back, and now Mercury Marine introduces their latest production model, the 2015 350 Verado. What’s the difference between them? Now that Mercury Racing has had some time to fiddle with this more powerful version of the supercharged four-stroke engine, they’ve made a few tweaks and re-packaged this power-house for the recreational market. Charles Pluddeman, the Outboard Expert, gives us a close-up look at the 2015 Verado 350, and shows us exactly what makes it different, in this quick video tour.

The most important thing we learned in this video? When he nails the throttle, you’d better hold on tight. The Boston Whaler Outrage 370 he ran triple 350’s on is, of course, just one of many different types and styles of yachts you’ll soon find powered by the Verado 350. There’s no doubt we’ll also be seeing it on large expresses, speed boats, and even the new genre of sport cruisers with outboards hidden away inside the stern, like the Sea Ray Venture and Pursuit Sport Yacht models.

Where does Mercury go from here? One clear indication is the next introduction from Mercury Racing—a 400 HP powerplant that eclipses the 350 Verado, and which we suspect will also one day become a Mercury outboard.
