Consulting ServicesCredentials: Billy Oliver is an experienced and capable marine consultant; a fourth generation commercial fisherman with over 30 years of practical experience both in the water and in Maine boat shops. Billy’s training includes overseeing the construction of vessels and custom design elements. Billy Oliver Boat Brokerage, headquartered in Cohasset, MA, was established in 2003. As a marine professional, and expert in the field of Downeast vessels, Billy chose to steer the direction of his company to offer marketing and consultative services for Downeast commercial and pleasure vessels. Billy is in close contact with Downeast Boat Builders along the Maine and Canadian coast, assessing the current market demands and design enhancements. In addition, professional learning opportunities have included classes in navigation and diesel mechanics from Massachusetts Maritime Academy, attendance at both Massachusetts and Maine Lobstermen Association programs, and participation in Coast Guard approved course work. Billy, and his team, are regular attendees and exhibitors at industry trade shows such as Fish Expo, the Maine Boat Builders Show, the Maine Lobsterman’s Association, the Mass Lobsterman’s Association, and the Maryland Waterman’s Show. With extensive experience in both commercial and pleasure boating, regulations, and navigation Billy is able to offer consulting services including Pre-Purchase Consulting, Opinions of Market Value, and Vessel Construction Oversight.
