I was born right here in Whatcom County! I served in the Air Force from 1973 to 1977, and was stationed in Idaho for two years, then Spangdahlem, Germany for 1 ½ years. I worked in maintenance at Uniflite from 1972 to 1973 and returned there after my service in the USAF. I then went on to drive tractor-trailers for Martin Feed for seven years and left there to work in the maintenance department for the General Services Administration at the Ports of Sumas and Blaine for the next 15 years.
I have been on the water since I was a kid – bought my first boat, a 21 footer, when I was 18 and moved onward and upward through the years with several other boats. My wife Sandy and I lived aboard our 54’ Vantare for seven years, from 2005 to 2011. We now have a 28’ Bayliner Trophy for fishing, shrimping, crabbing, cruising… everything the beautiful San Juan Islands have to offer.
We cruised many times in the Gulf Islands and to Desolation Sound, as well in the Bahamas.
We live at Sandy Point, Ferndale, WA in a house on the canal, with the boat right at our doorstep!
I have been a Maritime Captain now for 9 years, and that is how I ended up at Bellhaven… In 2008 I was hired to do charter check outs and to give power boat lessons to brokerage and charter customers. In 2009 my wife and I purchased 50% of Bellhaven, Inc.
My love of the water and boating is a natural for helping other people find just the “right” boat for them, and I have forged many lasting friendships as a yacht broker/instructor. Our company motto says it all: “if you want results in buying or selling your boat, WE NEED TO TALK!”
